Recommend a mask (nasal mask)

Post by Ruinednose » Sat Dec 07, 2013 9:40 pm

I have a easy life mask with respironics headgear. Basic stuff. I like my mask ok but I find it leaks a lil.

Recommend a mask preferably from respironics I want to try something else maybe it's better
Will the dme let me try on a few other masks?

Take a look at the Nuance Pro from Respironics. I recently switched to that and I like it. It's a nasal pillow mask.

I have used the easy life mask from time to time and consider it the only good Resperonics masks.
That said, everyone has a little different facial structure and what might work well for me might not work for you.
As for masks, Many prefer the nasal pillow type of mask like the Resmed FX or LT.
It depends on the DME. Some will allow you to exchange a mask within a week or so. Others will not, but they should.

Respironics Easy Life is my perfect mask. I have used it since day one and have only had mild leak issues when I first started using it and over tightened the head gear. For my face, I have the top strap slightly tighter than the lower strap. This way the outer forehead portion of the silicone seal makes gentle contact on my forehead and the inner portion of the silicone seal, due to the bottom strap being a little more loose, has the space necessery to inflate and seal around my nose. It almost grabs onto my nose when the bottom strap is adjusted properly and I turn the machine on .

Good luck to you in your mask search. Hopefully you will find that perfect mask because when or if you do it can be wonderful for successful PAP therapy. I know that Respironics has the new 'Wisp' Nasal mask that looks interesting. There are a couple of threads that talk about it if you do a forum search for it.

I have used the ResMed Mirage Activa mask for 7 or 8 years now and for me, it has been by far the best mask I have used in the some 28 years I have been an XPAP patient.
