hose cover

Post by fujiinator » Tue May 23, 2006 1:15 pm

My wife made one for except it was a little short the first time. I saw one post where someone made it longer then the hose so that it would bunch up to better insulate. We are going to try that method. Also be sure to leave it loose enough so you can get the cover on and off as needed for cleaning the hose. Now is a good time with sales on fleece because winter is over.

Hose Covers

Post by Offerocker » Tue May 23, 2006 1:56 pm

I made my own some time ago, and it's working great!

I made it from fleece, as in jacket material. After making it the proper length, I decided another would be greater benefit, and the 'scrunching' of the double-length has indeed helped, since we sleep with the window(s) open in the winter.

p.s.
I am willing to make these for anyone who would like them. Charge will be nominal, and actual shipping only. Just let me know color preference, if any. I will make two 8' covers for you. PM me if interested.

Made a double layer one and it worked well. Just got fleece on sale for a new 4-layer cover for next winter. I’m going to be in a new sleeping cottage with electric heat (the main house is heated by a wood stove which bothers my nasal passages as the winter goes on). I want to be ready for cold nights. The layer next to the tube will be ripstop nylon to allow the hose to slide in, The next two layers will be thinsulate and a reflective layer (not sure which will be first-I’ll look into sleeping bag construction). The last layer will be fleece. The whole thing will be extra long to bunch up and Velcro at the ends. The weight of the cover will probably make some sort of holder at the top of the bed necessary-but with all the “inventing materials” I’ve got that should be easy.

I saw that my 6 ft hose would rub the finish off our bed, so I told the wife I
needed a cover. She was ready to head for the fabric store, but I told her I
had a better idea. I took two old, long socks, cut the toes out and she hand
sewed them together. I have the ugliest argyle cover in the country, but it only
took me thirty seconds and her a couple of minutes.

You can't beat that for functionality. I don't know about warm....with the heated
humidifier I don't seem to have a problem.

Oh yeah, in keeping with my high tech solutions, when the cover started
sliding, I used two green rubber bands, courtesy of our newpaper. Rubber
bands...free. cost of socks? $3 Bragging rights for the ugliest hose cover in
the world...priceless.

Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

Very ingeneous - and 'artsy' too!

I couldn't resist this: I hope the socks were CLEAN ones, LOL.

Let your wife make you one from fleece (especially since she offered) - it is warmer, and much softer.
You need to post a picture of yours. Hey, what a way to get rid of those hole-y socks; if you have worn wool ones, they are better insulators than cotton.

You are right, I should. She just rolls her eyes at it. Of course, being the
proud inventor of the new cover, I don't know.

She does her 2nd sleep apnea test tonight. The one at home failed...can't
remember why....didn't sleep enough I guess.

Maybe a blue one for me and a pink one for her?

Wool, being a "hollow core fiber" would be much warmer I guess, but we keep
the bedroom around 68-70 degrees over night...year round. And so far the
heated humidifier is perfect.

I woke up at 4:45am today, but that was not the machines fault...I will give
the demerol another fifteen minutes, then I will try to go back to sleep. I do
wonder what my encore pro software will give me. I hope to sleep a few more
hours.

I can take a digital photo of the cover, but not sure how to post it.

I sure love this machine. It has already allowed me to quit using so many
drugs at night. I used to use 3 different sprays to open things up...now I
don't use any.

Hose Cover

I sure love this machine.
Which one do you have? If you change the profile settings from picture TEXT, it will display the exact (usually) machine you're using.

Good for you! I'm sorry I can't help with the picture for posting; have ideas, but none tried-and-true.

Good luck to your wife! She's lucky to have your experience and knowlege first-hand. She could even knit a cover - from wool, or whatever.
I foresee a contest in your household, over who has the best-looking (or most-colorful, or just plain weirdest) hose cover Before long, you'll be swapping hoses, LOL! If you have a "hose fight", at least they'll be padded.
