silly questions

Post by lastlib » Sun Nov 24, 2013 9:31 pm

I have a few silly questions:

1. I just noticed that I was supposed to clean the tube that goes from my machine to my head guard. It is now 87 days since I started using my CPAP and I have never cleaned my hose. What unfortunate consequences should I expect?
2. My Ahi goes very high, 12.4, on nights when I have trouble sleeping and get up and go downstairs to read then return to bed. Coincidence or some kind of relationship?
3. Every sleep study I had in the sleep lab showed no REM sleep yet the sleep felt normal. Is it possible I have few or no periods of REM sleep? My study and my machine show I get less than 5 hours sleep a night.

I would say go wash out your hose and move on with your life. If you have no sinus infection or issue then it is no problem.
With some machines they say if you are awake it does effect your AHI. Not sure if that is issue with your machine.

I wish you well....

Wash it quickly, or on day 90, the cpap police will knock in your door, and beat you up! Jim

IMO, there is no reason to clean the hose...ever. Mine is about 9 months and has never been cleaned. Only moisture from distilled water flows through the hose. Just be sure you are regularly cleaning the machine filter. I have been using CPAP for 5 years and change the hose every year, but never clean it. I prpbably could use the hose longer, but I have a use for old hoses.

Thanx for the help. I have a Bearded Collie which either scare the CPAP police or invite them in to play. If they were to kidnap him they would find out how spoiled he is and return him.

Thanks for the reminder; I just got a new Climateline; and I need to swap, at least to make sure Apria didn't send me a defective one.
Since the old one still works, it's time for a good cleaning, maybe run a little Control solution through it, dry, and save for a "rainy day".
