People still don't understand what sleep apnea is, so I really can't blame anyone for questioning me. I have a friend who had a valve replacement along with having stints put in the arteries leading to his heart. He also recently had a knee replacement. He has read and continues to read about heart problems, knee problems, statins, etc., but he looks at me strangely when I say anything about having sleep apnea. He seriously thinks only very heavy men have this problem.

Sleep apnea is very much in its infancy and I think it will take years to be recognized as easily as needing a heart valve.

ig·no·rance noun \ˈig-n(ə-)rən(t)s\ : a lack of knowledge, understanding, or education : the state of being ignorant
Full Definition of IGNORANCE
: the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness

The above definition of the word "ignorance" is from the Merrian-Webster dictionary. If anyone makes an incorrect statement or implies something stupid about sleep apnea, I chalk it up to this word.
Not everyone is as informed as we are on this board about sleep apnea. So I do inform them, as to what it is, in hope that they will become educated. Just because a person can't see a disease or disorder does not make it not exist.
