Mask Wars
Mask Wars
I've been using a cpap for 9 years and have yet to find the right mask. I started out with a nasal pillow but wen to the nasal mask within 2 weeks due to irriation, etc. Since then I've used Comfort Gel, Profile Lite, Comfort Classic, Flexifit, and currently have a Mirage FX for her in the smallest size available. Although I like the Mirage the best so far it still doesn't fit well. If I position the mask so it isn't riding on my upper lip it leaks air into my eyes, so I pull it down and end up with a sore lip and teeth in the morning. I'm considering going to a Wisp Nasal or Swift FX Nano. Would appreciate any and all input on the pluses and minuses of these two masks.

Wisp; from our hosts it's a fit pack. (all 3 sizes)

Re: Mask Wars
I didn't do well with the Wisp but that was a peculiar issue related to me. I lasted 90 minutes with it...long story there and my issue is not all that common for most people. Many very happy Wisp users here though.
Now I did try the Nano and it surprised me...I liked it and did well with it and even got it to work with the Bella Loops.
I kept it just for some time in the future when maybe I couldn't use my nasal pillow mask for some reason or other.
It's the only over the nose mask I have been able to tolerate and liked well enough to keep.
So in my mask horde...there is now one over the nose nasal mask to go along with the nasal pillow mask.
It didn't displace my Tap Pap as number one because one of my preferences is no headgear at all...but the Nano was real sweet and I actually used it in various experiments for about 10 nights.

Re: Mask Wars
I used the Wisp for a little less than a year and it's the only mask I've used that doesn't leak on my face. That being said, I seem to have some serious problems with the nasal only interface, therefore I'm experimenting with FFMs which distribute the therapy pressure evenly between the nasal and oral cavities (providing the nasal cavities remain open all night, a big caveat). It is a drag to have to shop for a new mask every few months... probably the biggest turnoff in CPAP. I'm just waiting for someone to invent the perfect mask ... Instant billionaire

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I'm waiting also. I like the Nano, but it's not perfect. I think the perfect mask is no mask.Sir NoddinOff wrote:I'm just waiting for someone to invent the perfect mask ... Instant billionaire
