Oh really? I know I would think it was way cool, not to mention I'd feel so tender about the guy who needed something like that to stay alive! And I might even want to try it out myself. If someone cares about you, they'll be pushing you to make sure you stick with therapy and if it's a turn off for them (how many people do you know who are really that shallow, superficial, INsecure, etc anyhow?) who needs them! There are SO many great people out there of any age who would understand, and besides, once they're asleep (and maybe snoring or worse themselves ) they won't be looking at you at all!

And besides, yes there are not only other teens, but even babies who need Cpap!

I didn't use a machine when I was a teenager (because I wasn't yet diagnosed), but I WISH I had cpap available to me then! It would have saved my college roommates and bed partners from my awful nightly snoring (it was really bad), and more importantly, I wouldn't have crashed and burned at the age of 30 from too many years of terrible sleep. I was at a normal weight as a teenager, did tons of sports, yet still had severe apnea.

If you snore, that is A LOT LESS SEXY than a cpap. Being alert and awake in the morning is also sexy.

How about a 12 year old.... and shes a girl.... how do you think she feels. You are not the only one that is in the 18 to 22 year range that is on cpap so don't blame that on not being able to find a girl friend. Put your mask back on and sleep with it every night... you will live longer that way.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Maybe you know the wrong people, besides it is not the sleeping that you are looking for, in my day the back of VW was more then adequate.

What? I never blamed the cpap for not having a girlfriend I've never even tried to have a girlfriend even when they would try and flirt with me! because my anxiety and self confidence is so bad and I tend to negatively think everything about myself

But thanks for the answers, It helped me about this

You don't have to tell anyone about the CPAP on your first date with them. Develop a relationship with them first and then trust them with various disclosures. They have to earn your trust. I know the CPAP seems like an obstacle to intimacy, but it won't be as much of an obstacle as you think. Work on the other things you mentioned, such as your feelings about yourself, as those are more of an impediment to a good relationship than CPAP or not being "that good looking".

Not Darth Vader, but a Top Gun fighter pilot, a firefighter, or an astronaut.
Giving your body and brain all the oxygen-rich sleep it needs will help your strength, co-ordination, memory, and concentration.
Let cpap help you build your awesome self.

Hi,

There is nothing to be ashamed of here. I have run 4 full marathons and 11 half marathons so far this year, and I have been using CPAP for 5 years. I couldn't even run a city block before I started on CPAP, so I know it works.

Apnea isn't caused by being overweight. It is a structural issue with your airway. In fact, having apnea can be a major contributor to becoming overweight. If you want to keep that muscular build, your want to be able to breathe, sleep, and prevent the heart damage that apnea can cause.

Another side effect of apnea is depression. I hear you talking down about yourself and I hear some despair in your words. This isn't you, this is your apnea messing with your brain. Trust me, if you get back on the machine and keep your oxygen levels high, your attitude is going to improve along with your energy. Girls are attracted to guys that have positive attitudes and are full of energy. This will all work itself out.

KsUP,

I wish to god I had had access to cpap when I was your age because in my opinion, it would have saved me years of grief big time. I feel I under achieved in so many areas of my life due to not having the cognitive abilities I would have gained from restorative sleep.

Regarding your own situation, my guess is that if you used the cpap machine on regular basis, due to the restorative sleep you were getting, you would start feeling so good about yourself that you would begin to think you were worthy of a committed relationship instead of the way you are thinking now which jweeks has rightfully attributed to depression.

Please start using your machine so you can have the fully functional life that you deserve to have which included a committed relationship in which a girl really cares about you as a person and could care less that you use a pap machine.

There are many teens with sleep apnea. Most of them are suffering undiagnosed. Just be glad you are one of the fortunate few to start treatment at an early age and live a healthy life.

You don't have to be good looking to become an excellent husband and father who is loved dearly by his wife and children. Make it your goal to be a loving, dedicated husband and father. You will be very handsome to your family.

Use that CPAP until it becomes an easy routine!
