Can DME do that....

Post by flyingwithoutwings » Wed Nov 13, 2013 5:41 pm

I went to the BCBS website and saw that the DME billed for November rental even tho I returned the brick on November 4. Am I liable for the full month?

Depends on what your first day of rental was.

If you got your machine on the 1st of the month, then its likely that the contract calls for payment for each month or part month so they probably can.

Contact BCBS to make sure they know the date the equipment was returned.

Automatic billing run on the first of the month.

Yep, you're both right. Contacted BCBS who referred me to CareCentrix and they told me that it's NOT prorated. Since I did get the machine on October 1st and returned it on November 4th I have to pay for the whole month of November. Pisses me off after they were so "gracious" I should've just thrown it in a closet and returned it on November 29. And on top of that, they had given me a "used" brick.
