Flow limitation

Post by Boop » Tue Nov 12, 2013 5:54 pm

I was looking at my data on sleepyhead and I was wondering why in my pie chart there was only flow limitation and OA. what does flow limitation mean?

Pie chart simply reflects whatever % of the whole each event category happens to be. If you happen to have 1 Obstructive Apnea and nothing else the whole pie will be OA. If you happen to have 1 OA and 1 CA then 50% of the pie will be OA and 50% will be CA.
The whole pie is all night. If 1 OA, 1 CA and 1 FL...each slice will be 1/3.

Thx. So it seem the less you have in all categories is good.

I've always wondered what the difference was between an FL and a Hypopnea.

Yes, that is correct. The pie chart simply tells you which charts to focus your attention on, those with the biggest slice of pie.

On sleepyhead the event flag has no lines but the pie graph shows oa and fl. I don't understand. The event says 4 pressure pulse. What does all of this mean?

Pugsy's Pointers... understanding your data viewtopic/t88983/Pugsys-PointersSleepyH ... nding.html

Read the above tutorial and then come back with questions you might have that aren't answered above.

Pressure pulses are just little puffs of air that the machine uses for helping it decide if your airway is open or closed...so it helps it decide if the apnea event is clear airway (airway is open but no flow) or if the airway tissues are collapsed and blocking the airway.

Not sure why the event graph wouldn't show anything at all and still have the pie chart and AH showing something..could you post an image of what you are seeing so that we can see it too?
Don't know how to post an image? Here's how
