SleepyHead and pressures

Post by Olivia » Sat Nov 09, 2013 10:01 pm

Hello All, I am fairly new to CPap and am still struggling. I had my first titration study this week and it will be 3-4 weeks before I get the results and the physician can see me. I have days when my AHI is under 5, but a few days like below. I am really trying to stay off my back, but it is hard to know if I am successful. Any ideas about devices to use to stay on my side would be appreciated. Any suggestions about how to avoid the events from this night? I thought I would bump the minimum pressure up to 10cm H2O if I can figure it out and see if that makes a difference. Some nights I have more clear airway events than OA events. Thanks for your help. Olivia

Hi Olivia

Welcome to the Forum.
Your minimum pressure is already 9 so changing it to 10 will only be a modest increase. It may help with the onset of obstructives that you experience. You might also try moving the max from 13 to perhaps 14 at the same time as your machine is maxing out while trying to treat them.

I think you are correct with your supposition about sleeping on your back. There are full length pillows you can wedge up against to help keep you from rolling over in the night.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am shopping for a wedge pillow today and just downloaded the clinicians manual for my machine. Olivia
