Newbie Question... peeling skin?

Post by cls8402 » Fri Nov 08, 2013 7:16 am

Hello! I'm Chelsea, and I'm new here. I just got my cpap a week ago. It's been fine so far, I'm getting used to it and figuring things out. I use the Swift FX nasal pillows. I noticed yesterday and today though that when I get up in the morning, it takes skin off. It's dry skin, granted, but it's leaving my nose raw! I've read not to put anything on my nose, or it breaks down the silicone. Are there any suggestions to help with this?

Lansinoh lanolin ointment. Won't harm the silicone at all.

Thanks Pugsy! I'll give some of that a try.

They may be too tight and it's causing pressure sores right there. Try loosening them up.

Otherwise switch to a standard nasal mask or full face mask while allowing things to heal.

Some people just cannot tolerate pillow cushions because of this issue. Although there is a new PR pillows mask that has squishy gel in it to make things softer.

Hi Chelsea! Welcome to the forum! Try the lansinoh ointment as Pugs recommended. Lots of folks have successfully used it. Work all your issues here. We are here to help you thru your cpap journey.
