Newbie Searching For Used CPAP Store

Post by chadcochran76 » Wed Nov 06, 2013 12:26 pm

Hi Everyone,
New to the site.
I am searching for a reputable store - ordering online or by phone, to buy a good used CPAP machine.
I have not used a machine in a couple of years, and need to start back.
I do not have a current Rx and can't afford to get a new evaluation and Rx.
Thank you for your help,
Chad.

Any online store is going to require a RX...doesn't have to be a new RX but they will require a RX.
Secondwindcpap.com has some gently used cpap machines and I know lots of people who have bought from them but they require a RX.
Forum member mcdover has some gently used cpap machines. You might contact him. He's a stand up guy. I have bought from him in the past on more than one occasion.
I know he has some used machines but I don't know which ones or what the price is. Just send him a PM. He might also have some very gently used masks that he might sell real cheap.

Forum member STLMark sometimes has new zero hour machines...complete package for around $400 but I don't think he has anything right now.
Without a RX to provide to an online seller you are pretty much limited to the secondary market...like craigslist or one of the forum members here.

Do you know what you want and what your pressure needs are?
BTW masks also require a RX but sometimes we can buy replacement parts (don't require a RX) and build our own masks.

If you were diagnosed in the past, your medical records may still exist, and an Rx could be easily written.
You may have hunt them down, (easier if the doc is still practicing); but apnea is considered life-long.
You may also consider getting your dentist or a nurse practitioner to write a prescription for you.
It's not like a narcotic--nobody lies to get high off cpap.
Once you have a prescription, you may try secondwindcpap.com.

I am looking to buy a machine from Secondwindcpap.com and being new did not even think about sending a prescription in emailed mine just now. Reading the site

Do I need a prescription to order a CPAP
All CPAP/BIPAP machines are considered Class II medical devices and require a 'doctor's note'. If you already use a CPAP and are looking for a replacement, back up etc, please call us. We have created a "Physician Authorization Form" to assist you in getting your doctor to sign off on your new or used CPAP. Many times, your doctor's office will assist you without requiring an office visit; They understand that you need replacement equipment and in many cases your insurance company does not cover the equipment. We can help you facilitate this process, as there are several options available to you. The bottom line is we will be happy to work with you to get the machine you need. Please give us a call or email us.

On the front page:

If you are unable to purchase a replacement CPAP or BIPAP machine because you have lost track of your prescription, have an out of date prescription, or 'pre-existing' clause in your policy, we may be able to help with our physician authorization.

So they would work with you to get a Cpap with an out of date prescription
