cms50e oximeter: problems downloading recorded info

Post by hegel » Tue Nov 05, 2013 7:30 pm

sorry, I know that this is an old topic. I reviewed older posts and they were helpful. Still, when I try to download my night's recorded info, a couple of unexpected things happen. First, I get a "device not found" message. Then, a window pops up asking me for a file name. None of this is what's supposed to happen. My device is on and connected by the cable that was sent with my purchase. My program download--which I had to go online to get, the disc that was sent didn't work; apparently it was for the wireless version--anyway, my download seems complete; I have two 'heart' icons on my desktop and they initialize when I click either icon. Also, when I go onto the 'review' program, I can't click the 'new session' icon. I'm completely stopped right at that point, again with the 'device not found' message.

I've contacted faceLake.com but it's taking a bit of time...they did however help me pronto with a download link for the program when my sent disc didn't work...

any advice would be appreciated. I'm not very good with computer related problems...probably I'm just missing something...still, very frustrating.

Mine works fine with the cable but is more stable using the bluetooth connection. Have you gotten it to work all? May can help more if I know whether its a constant or intermittent problem.

I just received my CMS-50E in the mail today. I am getting the same message as you "device not found" when I try to run the "SPO2" and "SPO2 Review" programs.

I downloaded different versions of the software from pulseoxstore.com , and tried installing them on both a Windows XP and Windows 7 (64 bit) machine with the same results.

Windows device manager shows the CMS-50E as an unknown device, and says it has been disabled because it reported problems. When I try to install a new driver from the included mini CD, it says the best driver is already installed.

I have tried turning USB both on and off on the CMS-50E's internal settings, but that did not make any difference.

Hoping someone can help.

TIA Rick

In my case the system will return a 'device not found' unless I explicitly turn the 50E ON. It likes to time out. Seems to hold on once it makes the handshake.

OK I think I found the answer to my own question in this old thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28525&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=oximeter

There were many suggestions in this thread but this is the one that summarized the problem
JohnBFisher wrote:Sorry you are having such problems with it. I never have problems. And I have a fairly highly customized Windows Vista system.

I did find that it REQUIRES the cable that came with the unit. I assumed that any mini 5pin to USB cable would work. Nope. The cable that comes with it is required to pull the data.

Once I had that in place, it seems to work without problems. I start the SpO2 Review software, click on the New Session icon, then enter the data. When I click OK, it tells me it's waiting for the device. I start the device, go to the menu and then start the upload. It's really easy.

But without the cable that comes with it, it's just a light paperweight. Hope that helps.
Just to summarize the procedure.
Make sure you have some data recorded on the CMS-50E, and that you have stopped the recording
Connect the CMS-50E to your PC with the grey cable that came with it. Do not uses a standard black USB cable as I was doing
Open the SPO2 software by double clicking on the icon
Click the magnifying glass at the bottom of the window. If it goes directly to choosing a file, it is because it still doesn't see the device
Select the "New Session" option at the top of the window
Enter whatever personal data you want to record with the data for future reference
Click the OK button at the bottom of the window
You should see a message "Device connected waiting for data
Open the menu on the CMS-50E device itself.
Press and hold the "Upload" option for 1-2 seconds until it changes to "ON". You can then release the button
The computer will display the message "Receiving data please wait"

Thats about it.
