I just had my upper molar extracted and from reading previous post I need to be cautious about dry socket . My Dentist suggested to not use my cpap for tonite. One thing I didnt ask her was, does it matter if Im using a nasal pillow rather than a FFM? I can see a FFM causing issues since you would be breathing thru the mouth but the pillows bypasses this area, doesnt it?

Re: molar pulled
I had a lower molar extracted and continued to use PAP with the same SwiftFX pillows the you use. Dry socket occurs with the blood clot being disturbed, which prior to PAP, I had severe bruxism. Plus, snoring with the mouth wide open, is very drying and can delay healing. Prior to PAP, my dental implants required more than the usual time to heal.
At the time of the extraction, I had a bone graft sutured in place to prepare for an eventual dental implant. Perhaps, this made a difference in the PAP recommendation. However, I don't recall even posing the question as to not using PAP. Since I have desats into the low 60s, this would not be an option for me.

Re: molar pulled
I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled last December.
The only problem I had with cpap is that my full face mask was along the area that was sore, and I had to remove it for part of the night to apply an ice pack. Keep in mind that cpap is positive pressure. Dry socket is caused by sucking. The two have nothing to do with each other.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
