Re: Aliens visited again, UGLY night
I would pay real money if my good nights looked.like those. But Sunday night go back to sleep lab for 4th time in three months. Try the ASV machine rout. Doc says he will consider me a success if we can get my average around 15.

Re: Aliens visited again, UGLY night
Notice in my last 2 posts there are 3 nights with no data. One night was a sleep study, one I never even tried to go to sleep as I had that weird feeling in my head that usually leads to nights with an AHI of 120 to 140. Learned to be in tune to what my body is telling me and am scared to even try sleeping when I feel the gremlins crawling around. Feels like ants in the area between skull and C1 vertebrae. The other missing night forgot to put the card in the machine. Sometimes I can pop it in next morning and run for few minutes and data from night will partially write to card, others it doesnt. Is there a for sure way to recover data from a Respironics machine when the card is left out? So Sunday night I finally get my ASV study. Once.done doc will hand me a script for new machine. He prefers that I stay with a Respironics machine but says it is my choice what to get as long as my insurance company goes along. They have never balked if the prescription says what equipment so I want to get feedback so I can ask him to specifically write in what I want. Insurance company does not want to pick up the bill for a heart attack or stroke so they will get me the machine requested. They have actually had a nurse practitioner following my case and she calls me 2 times per month to discuss the latest reports from the doctor. She acts concerned and continues to say they want what is best for me, not what is cheapest for them. I am actually impressed with their willingness to pay for everything the doctor orders.

The missing data should be stored on the machine with the exception of the flow rate graph (wave form graphs in Encore) and be written to the SD card whenever it gets inserted again.hueyville wrote:Is there a for sure way to recover data from a Respironics machine when the card is left out?
The flow rate graph data is so large it isn't stored on the machine so the SD card must be in place for that piece of data but the rest of the graphs should show up. I think it is stored on the machine for about 30 days before it gets overwritten on the SD card.
Now the ResMed S9 won't store those detailed graphs. Only summary usage and AHI is stored on the machine.

Hi guys, as a newbie I'm just finishing my 4th week now. I do read the info
on my machine daily. But how important is it to get " Sleepyhead "
or "Oncore" that I keep hearing about???
Thank you

The data that is available on the PR S1 machine is very limited compared to what is available in the software.Let me sleep wrote:I do read the info

Gross AHI on the LCD screen, percent of time in large leak and average pressures if using auto mode.. If all the data is within acceptable limits and a person is feeling great and sleeping great. Hey, the detailed reports probably are really boring and not going to show anything exciting.
But if someone is having issues, not feeling better....maybe someone should look a little deeper for possible explanations or issues that might could be improved upon to increase the chances of feeling better.
The software is the first place to look. Evaluate the detailed data to see if anything is a potential factor in not feeling better.
Start with the obvious and then start ruling out other possible causes for not seeing improvement.
There's so much more to feeling better than a nice low AHI. There's a huge list of potential culprits.
Sometimes the medical profession develops the mentality...give it time or give drugs instead of doing the difficult work need to dig deep for reasons a person doesn't seem to be doing well.
No amount of "give it time" if the therapy is sub optimal for some reason is going to fix the issue until the reason for sub optimal therapy is addressed.
Giving drugs just masks symptoms and while drug have their place...IMHO a last resort once I have totally ruled out everyone of the potential other culprits and that list is HUGE.
The software is useless if you don't make the effort to learn what things mean. So how important is it? Well it all depends on what you want and what you do with it.
You saw this thread and my reports. What if I reported feeling pretty yucky and all my nights were with the AHI 6 ish?
What if I had 5 or 6 of those clusters? I can tell you from past experience...one cluster doesn't affect me all that much but when I first started therapy I was having 5 or 6 clusters and even though the AHI wasn't horribly horrible...I felt like crap.
Going by the gross AHI...I shouldn't have felt all that bad...looking at the details and seeing several ugly clusters I had a potential culprit for not feeling so great. Once I broke up the clusters I noticed significant improvement.
Without the software...I most likely would have said "this isn't working, I feel awful" and toss the machine in the closet.
