Septorhinoplasty with tur reduction.

Good evening fellow hose heads:

Well... after being on CPAP, APAP, several different mask I finally went to an ENT about my devetied septum.

He said I "needed" a nose job... badly. CAT scan looked horriable compaired to normal.

Surgery was yesterday. All in all... it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The worse part was actually coming out of antethsia. I didn't throw up or anything.... I just had a bad time trying to come out of it.

Seems he did a good job. I've always had a twist in my nasal bone that I could feel by running my fingers down each side of my nose. The twist seems to be gone as well. I know it is early but my nose seems to be straight.

The only other thing is a have a slight head ache(dull)(probally due to the swelling) and I hate having to breathe through my mouth.

THere isn't much pain. Best discripiton I can give is it is sorta like having a bad cold.

Wish me a speedy recovery!!!!!!!

...not to wish you a speedy recovery

So I do..

Please let us know how it goes and whether it has any effects on your other sleep issues. You know, anecdotal evidence is not what we should be counting on, but in a lot of ways, it is all we have, And, if we are going to use it (and we will) then the more, the better.

Seriously: wishin you speedy recovery with no complications.

Well... if you are asking if it will get me off of CPAP... odds are proablly not by itself.(Although, I wish it would!!!) But it should make CPAP much more beneficial. And it will probally at least reduce my Rx presure. (I have AutoCPAP and I noticed before the surgery that when my nose stayed clear for the night I felt much better the next day and that it ran at low presure. If my nose clogged... I would fell like crap the next day and would find the AutoCPAP running at high presure.

Btw, the dull headache is gone as of this morning. And I have gotten much more use to mouth breathing. Hopefully it is smooth sailing ahead at this point.

ENT says he thinks I can get off of CPAP if he removes my tonsils next. I tolerate CPAP well. In fact, I didn't even have to build up to it. I sleep the first night with it all night and It hasn't been a problem with the exception of my nose clogging up.

I also wish you a speedy recovery!
And do your saline rinses religiously!

At the very least, your CPAP should work better.

After all my nose surgery, and with my weight being within nominal, I am hoping to MAYBE be able to toss out my CPAP in favor of a dental device of some sort. I have a recording pulse ox machine and have been doing my own experiments that indicate this MIGHT be a possibility.

Went back to ENT again today. He pulled the rest of the packing, the plastic tubing inserts and removed the external brace.

WOW!!!! I can really tell a BIG difference between pre and post operative breathing. Before it was like trying to suck air through a straw. Now... it is like garden hose!!!!!!!(Slightly over stated there... but you get the idea.)

My nose is still swollen a little bit but it straight as an arrow and looks much better too!!!!!!!

All in all, this really has not been that bad and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again if I had to.
