Alternative treatment for ulcers and stomach issues: Cayenne

Post by Tech Guy » Thu Oct 24, 2013 7:39 pm

I've been taking cayenne on and off for years. After a doctor visit, the doc recommended prilosec to reduce the acid production. Can't stand taking pills. Sometimes the side effects are worse than the problem! Remembered the magic of cayenne pepper for ulcers and a host of other cures. Doctors will says, "don't eat peppers or spicy foods." So tired of conventional medicine reading out of a book. Herbal treatments have been around thousands of years. Usually buy the 90,000 (heat units) bags for $12 from Amazon. Lasts a year! Reaching for the tums or pepto is a temporary relief. Cayenne kills h. pylori bacteria responsible for the ulcers. It's recommended not to take capsules because the healing starts in the mouth. A glass of warm water in the morning and night with (to start) a 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of cayenne will bring immediate relief. There's not much difference from the 30,000 hu to 90,000 hu. The 90k works better. Start with a 1/4 tsp of the 90k. The supermarket stuff is 30k hu. Sometimes I'll mask it with some orange juice.

"Notwithstanding its hot taste, paradoxically it is actually superb for rebuilding the tissue in the stomach, facilitating healing with stomach and intestinal ulcers. Cayenne pepper for ulcers is not something most would have considered but I can testify to that remarkability capability of cayenne."

You may be learning that depriving the stomach (with Prilosec, Pepcid, Nexium, etc. etc.) of natural acid necessary to process digestion (even from food or caffeine hours earlier) can be counterproductive overkill. I don't think I'd be brave enough to suggest others take cayenne, but if it works for you, terrific! Some people do need some help, but I think most have gone off the deep end (with the encouragement of Rx co's). I often take half a regular Tums at bedtime, but it's generally if I've had e.g. raspberries after supper (and too much caffeine prior to that) and it does the job - not soaking up alll the acid and therefore not provoking overproduction of it later on.

Holistic approach is an alternative. Simply sharing some information. It's up to everyone to use their own judgement and make decisions accordingly. There are pros and cons to everything!

I have never taken cayenne pills but I strongly feel that this is viable. I used to have lots of issues with acid reflux years ago. Then my taste buds started liking hotter foods. The more hot foods that I would eat the fewer issues I have with acid reflux. I am constantly trying new hot sauces and actually like to cry a little when I eat. When we have a potluck at work my co-workers fear me. This next may be nothing but snake oil, but I rarely get the flu when it goes around in my family. I think that the hot foods and sauces that I eat amps up my immune system.
