HIV RIGHTS, WHY NOT APNEA?

Post by Guest » Fri May 19, 2006 9:37 pm

Someone made an interesting post about rights for those of us with apnea. You know it got me thinking. People go and GET HIV infection by messing around. 99% of the time, it was their own damn fault. Once they GET HIV, they are usually entitled to FREE, lifelong health care that you and I could merely DREAM of.

Now, keep in mind, that the average person infected with HIV in America today, will now OUTLIVE 95% of those with diabetes. They will outlive 99% of those with MS, cancer, and in some cases outlive the general population. There medical outlook is improving daily, as science is spening countless billions are better care, medications, cures and treatment. These people get every apsect of their medical lives taken care of. I'm not saying this is wrong, but.................

They will rack up an average of $162,000 yearly in medical coverage, usually at tax payer expense!

On the other hand, we with apnea are thrown to the wolves to fend for ourselves. Sure, many could get better, r improve by loosing some weight, but this is not always the case.

I'm willing to bet 2 bits to one, that those with HIV infection on average will outlive those of us with apnea. Yet, with HIV, they got it for being stupid, most of the time. Where is the fairness in that? Shittt, we even have to fight, beg, threaten, just to get out medical insurance to pay for SOME of our care! That is for those of us, lucky enough to even have coverage!

I figured nobody would touch this one. Too politically incorrect and taboo. However, very true!

Sorry pal. I'll deal with my apnea anyday before HIV. Sure, treatment for HIV is great, but people still die from it. At least with my apnea, I hose up and for the night, it's cured.

However, I do agree, that people with HIV, sure seem to get much better, open treatment then others do with other diseases. I also will agree with you that apnea gets ignored for the most part.

Good grief, give me apnea over HIV.

But hey, how about an amendment to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) that would require xpap machines to be strategically located in certain places: doctors' waiting rooms, drivers license offices, buses, planes and trains, math classes and so on. We could carry our hoses and masks around and catch regular naps.

Oh, I forgot shopping malls while waiting on my wife.
