Swift Fx or Nuance Pro

Post by xdman911 » Tue Oct 22, 2013 6:44 pm

This is for anyone who has tried both! Do you like the Swift Fx or the Nuance Pro better? And Why?

Tried both. I started with the Swift FX, tried the Nuance Pro, and am back with the Swift FX now. I liked the gel on the nasal pillows of the Nuance Pro, and the lightweight headgear part as well, but the gel packs on the straps bothered me. I think that I tend to be more picky than most, but none the less, that was my feeling about the Nuance. If they had a version of the Nuance Pro with silicone straps, without the gel packs on them, I'd be all over that *smile*.

The Swift FX is pretty regular, plain silicone straps, and the nasal pilows are fine. The problem with the Swift FX for me is that I'm in between Medium and Large sizes, so I have to have it a little tighter than I'd like to avoid leaks. But it still works okay for me, and doesn't end up tight enough to cause any problems.

I should mention that the reason that silicone straps work better for me is because I have a beard. Fabric straps just slide all over for me, and I wake up a lot with leaks. Silicone stays put a lot better, so less wakeups and less leaks.

I have had both. I liked the Swift FX for how minimalist the whole apparatus is. If it was just a matter of preference, I would use the Swift FX. But I am a almost-stomach sleeper and am between sizes of Swift FX pillows. The Nuance Pro pillows and head gear are much more stable and leak-resistant on me. I am hyper-sensitive to leaks, so the choice was a no-brainer for me. I am staying with the Nuance Pro. FYI, I put the covers from the Swift FX face straps on the Nuance Pro.

I have used both. The FX leaked constantly for me- never could get a good seal. I did like the mask overall but too many leaks. I am using the Nuance pro at the moment and hung up my Aloha for now. Loving the nuance pro - I did a few reviews-look at prior posts.

Hope this helps,
Carrie

I like them both almost equally. I think I am getting a better nights sleep with the NP due to the back strap not riding up my head as much. The FX pillows are a tiny bit more comfortable to me.I only get 2 to 3 weeks use out of FX pillows. I hope the NP pillows last longer. Cleaning the NP pillows is very easy since it just pops off and you don't have to take the straps off off to wash the pillows. Today I would get the NP if I ordered a replacement. Tomorrow I might order the FX, that is how close they are for me.

I have tried them both also. They are two of my favorite masks. I'm still getting redness which will positively turn into breakdown if I kept wearing the same mask every single night.

Therefore, I rotate masks after using one for two to three nights. I keep both of these masks in my rotation!

So Thewino - you rotate three masks? The Nuance, the FX and the Aloha that you have in your signature line? How do you get quality sleep rotating so many masks? Just wondering........

Yes ma'am,

I actually only use masks that fit well and don't leak. My AHI is pretty much the same each night and, if my mask doesn't come off in the middle of the night, all four masks in my rotation provide a leak rate of zero to four/L minute and a consistent AHI.

I have rotated masks in the past, mostly because any mask would eventually cause soreness if used too many consecutive nights.
Changing the contact points is a good idea even if the masks fit well. Of course, Medicare and insurance does NOT understand.

I have tried both. The answer would have to be the fx as I've only made it thru one entire night with the nuance.
It would feel like it was sealing fine but after 1 or 2 hrs. couldn't keep it from leaking and would get up and change to another mask. And no, the pressure did not come up at that time.

Also I think the Med. pillows fit best but it is like I'm sufffocating-can't get enough air. So am using the large. I have tried using the NP for 5 days now, last night didn't even try, just started out with my "opus 360" ; a mask not all that popular but seems to work for me. If something doesn't change the NP will definitely be exchanged for ?????

I am somewhat like the wino in that one mask will work for a while, then I'll have to change, and later go back to previous mask. Also I am envious of those who can keep their leaks low, I would say my average is 12-15 in the 95% and my AHI's staying below 5 but without any correlation to leaks or how I feel the next day.

OT Am I the only weirdo who has a terribly itchy nose?? Hardly ever go thru a night without having to raise up mask to rub my nose , I'd guess 3-4 sometimes. benadryl cream helps slightly.

I used the Swift FX a number of years ago and now I have the Nuance (not the Nuance Pro). As you may know, the Nuance has fabric side straps and the Nuance Pro has gel in the side straps. I got the Nuance because I have sensitive skin and I felt the gel in the side strap would bother me.

Of the two -Swift FX and the Nuance - I prefer the Nuance.

I also rotate 4 masks - The Aeiomed Headrest, which is my main mask and, for a change every so often - the Aloha, the Pilairo and now the Nuance.

None of these masks seem to make any difference to my leak rate or my AHI. I almost always have an AHI under 1. On a rare occasion it will go a bit higher if I am not feeling too well.

My only complaint with the NP is that the rear strap is a bit long, allowing the cheek bars to ride up a bit too close to my eyes.
I have done all I can to tweak the existing adjustments, but P-R simply needs to offer a smaller size headgear;
And I have some sewing to do.

I have tried both and found both of them to be awful. Nuance was especially terrible because this "cool, new, non slippery" headgear stretches like crazy in less than a month. I think the best mask ever is Mirage FX

Anyone find a way to make the blackstrap tighter on the Nuance pro mask? I was thinking of taking a pad a cheek pad to put back there to take up the extra slack. I sure wish they would have made it adjustable ugh!

I forgot...sorry...been busy helping my brother move...and then too tired to think about what I promised to do.
Mine isn't so loose that I want to go get the scissors.
I am wondering if skinny piece of velcro would work and not create a big bump. I don't have any on hand and I totally forgot when I went to Walmart. Cut out a suitable section and use velcro to hold the 2 ends together.
Which I had something like the velcro closure thing on the Swift FX back strap....It tiny velcro and won't make a big bump.
I was going to pull it off and see if I could use it but it won't come off...you know which part I am referring to?
