Having just discovered why my PB420e is very noisy some nights I thought I would start this thread to see if we can get some solutions or things to look for regarding noisy machines in one thread.
I have discovered that my PB420e is much noisier if the humidifier is not pushed all the way home. When all the way home I can hardly hear the pump when not all the way home (we are talking less than 1/8" difference here) I can very readily hear the pump going up and down as I breath. So can the wife. I have checked the leak rates and can find no increase. Have even tried some soap bubbles on the connection between the machine and the humidifier. No leaks. Slide the humidifier out slightly and up goes the noise. Hope this helps someone.
Possible solutons - Noisy XPAP
I like my PB420E but the coupler for the humidifier is indeed crap.
I not only have to have mine snugly stuck together, but I also have a cable tie on the humidifier side of the coupler to make that side a snugger fit.
I am suprised you don't see air bubbles if its not seated. I can usually just use my hand to feel the air, in addition to hearing the noise.
Once that spot IS well sealed, its a pretty quiet setup though.
