With the Quattro they eliminate almost all of the noise associated with leaks. They also tend to lessen/diffuse the leaking air so you don't feel it blowing on your face (especially up by your eyes).
Plus for me it's nicer to have a piece of microfiber cloth on my face instead of a giant chuck of greasy silicone.

Fabric next to your face feels softer and warmer than silicone.
It wicks moisture away from your face, so it is less likely to feel hot and sticky.
For those few people whose skin reacts to silicone or stuff on it, it isolates the silicone off the face preventing dermatitis.
I quiets some squeaky leaks that would otherwise wake you up.
A mask liner can make cushions last longer, as sweat and oil from the skin ages the mask.
Some liners, like Rem-zzz's, or Quietus are one-use, while Pad-a-Cheek are washable and reusable.
Some of us have cut a "gasket" out of an old, clean t-shirt, Viva towel, or dry, clean baby wipe.

Sabrina: I went through several masks over a period of about six months before settling on my current Swift nasal pillows. I think that it's fairly typical to have to do this--well worth it though! Don't be shy about going back to your sleep clinic until you find a mask that gives you the best possible fit. Then, hopefully, you'll be set for a long time.
For me, nasal pillows were a revelation!
