Most of us learned by the time we were teenagers to comparison shop and understand how you are spending your money.

Stupid people don't know to do this. Government can't fix stupid.

When health insurance is outlawed, only outlaws will have health insurance.

An excerpt from thomas(dot)loc(dot)gov:

II. EFFECTS OF CONCEALED CARRY ON PUBLIC SAFETY

While there is disagreement over the benefits of carrying concealed weapons, many believe that robust concealed carry laws ultimately deter crime by making criminal acts much more risky and costly for potential law breakers. Statistics show a connection between concealed carry laws and a decrease in violent crime rates. The National Rifle Association estimates, based on data from the FBI's Annual Uniform Crime Report, that `right-to-carry' states (i e , those that widely allow concealed carry) have 22 percent lower total violent crime rates, 30 percent lower murder rates, 46 percent lower robbery rates, and 12 percent lower aggravated assault rates, as compared to the rest of the country.

There is at least one accurate statement in the above quote, and that is the word "connection." At least the writer was smart enough not to say "correlation." Connection does not prove correlation. Unless there are "before and after" data available though, it is not correct to tie carry law to "a decrease." It would be correct to tie it to "a lower violent crime rate." There are undoubtedly a myriad of factors that impact the level of crime rate, including income levels, political attitudes, etc., and etc., and dare I say it, racial make up of a community. Conceal carry laws probably do have an impact, but without extensive deep detailed studies it's a reach to imply they are a primary contributor.
