Nuance mask pricing and video

I'd been daydreaming about whether the Nuance might be worth trying since my preferred DME has stopped carrying Resmed masks due to their cost. (They were nice enough to point me towards another DME that does carry Resmed masks the last time I was eligible for a new mask. But I'm not that fond of the new DME.)

But: The price listed at cpap.com for the Nuance OR the Nuance Pro is a whopping $159. OUCH. I could see this if you got both headgears to try, but no, you have to pick between the 100% cloth headgear or the head gear with gel cheek straps. So I'm not even sure that my DME will carry it since it is soooo expensive.

I also was troubled by this picture in the cpap.com video about fixing leaks with the nuance:


If that's not a classic case of piggy nose from overtightened straps, then what the heck is it?

I think it is like all the Respironics product...there's the MSRP listed and then you call for the real price.
I think I saw where someone pre ordered it and it was $95.

I am probably going to try it just because I like to try stuff and it looks interesting but I am going to try the DME for a demo first before I spend the bucks on it.

I called, and was told a much better price, but only the list price comes up,

Not that I know of.
I read yesterday (I think) where someone mentioned that they ordered it and the price was $95...is that what you were told?

I think they said $95, but I may have to phone my order in to get that price.
Never had them answer the phone on the weekend, so I guess I'll wait.
Edit: I left a message, and found my preorder email, and started pushing buttons, but no change.
Not going to log in and give my card number until I see the good price, so maybe tomorrow . . .

Yup $95.00 with free return insurance. Where it asks for a promotion code type in LOW and hit apply. The lower price will appear. You can call them also and get the lower price.

I had pre-ordered the "Nuance Pro" when it first appeared on cpap.com, at the full $159 price, not seeing that you could call in and get a better price. So when I saw the lower price being discussed here, I called in this morning and they gave me the lower price. Quite a chunk off the listed price! They also added in the standard $7 shipping charge, since the order was now below $100. Got an email this morning about a free shipping promo (that also makes a $2 donation to breast cancer research), so I called in about that as well, and they knocked off the shipping charge.

Very nice and helpful people at cpap.com, I'm pretty happy with their service. It does bother me a bit that they were okay with me not getting the lower price until I called in, not real enthused about "secret" sales prices. It's much better to see "see your actual price in your shopping cart" on a site than it is to not have the price available on the site at all in my opinion. I would have felt pretty bad had I not heard about the lower price at all, and paid the full listed price, $159.

Update: Just got a very friendly note from cpap.com explaining that the phone-in price thing is the manufacturer's requirement. Given that, I'm very happy with cpap.com.

I also ordered one! The customer service person I talked to said to type in the notes on the order form that over the phone price is 95.00. That's what I did. Got free shipping and free return insurance too, I ordered the Nuance Pro. Can't wait!
