Posting "hot deals" - yea or nay?

Post by sophia » Fri Sep 20, 2013 7:56 am

I rarely see such posts, but should we post a bargain come across one?

Examples:
1. CPAPSupplyUSA.com has a size small Quattro FX FFM for $80 (no return insurance). I should mention that I know nothing about this company or its reputation. While I don't need one, would cpap.com match this price?
2. Recently I bought some new Swift FX Nasal Pillows (M) for $7.50 each on Ebay. (Since sold out)

Is this the kind of info you would like to see posted more often?

of course we should post hot deals. That is simply another way of helping each other.

Since the sponsor of this message board...cpap.com...sells CPAP supplies, it is not right to feature ads from other suppliers.
You should be smart enough to do your own searches. (I think cpap.com will match any advertised price).

I am betting that cpap.com embraces competition rather than trying to shun it. Much more effective business strategy. (if I have missed this forum's posting rules (quite possible), please point me to them)

And yes, cpap.com matches legitimate competitors.

LSAT: No, you are wrong. I am not very smart; but thanks for hoping.

I just think it could lead to a big mess of 'alerts' all over the place (or even in one place) and there's enough of it going around as things stand now. Not a terrible idea, but not sure it's needed.

It's usually assumed that people who post links about other sites where they sell these types of products are shills for those sites. Some are obvious (first/only post) and some are a little more subtle. I've seen many posts get deleted for that reason.
Many of us who are faithful and devoted to our forum benefactor take a dim view of those who do that sort of thing and of those who think it's just fine.

I acknowledge that you have a dim view of me because of my opinion on this subject.

Before buying my Intellipap, I researched competitors' prices, and was prepared to request price matching;
but our clever hosts offered bundled discounts that exceeded anything the other guys had.

If you continue to ignore what people here are saying, you will be correct, count me in too. Hot Deals will trash up the forum, and Thr HOTTIES should do their own advertizing with their own money. Maybe that's a part of them being "Cheeep". Jim

Acknowledging is the opposite of ignoring, Sir.

Please do not seek to stir the pot. I have my opinions. You have yours. I have not and will not post hot deals here.

I often see people on here who use CPAP looking for cheap mouthpieces and talking about what they use and how they modified it for use with their CPAP.

Last week I saw a deal on Amazon for a unique looking mouthpiece specifically designed for snoring and advancing the lower jaw ever so slightly. It was a one-day deal for $12 (incl shipping) normally $27. This was nothing that cpap.com sells so there was no conflict.

I posted the link to it that morning and when I checked that night some (b-word) had deleted it.

Whoever deleted my post KMA!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. I could have used a deal like that. I'm new here, and I'm quickly learning that I am not welcome here because of my opinion that hot deals can be posted. I've never even posted one and I'm being chastised by a select few on here.

Not So! The First link you posted in this thread {Above} contained a link to a CPAP retail sales company. All are welcome here if they want to play fair. It's not hard to get along, respect others and interact, It's not cool to act as a shill for sales that conflict with the owner of a web site, this site or any other. Google does enough ad's for all of us. Many link posted are for useless items that don't help and are bought by those in De-Nile, interferring in them getting the treatment they need.
