[quote="Tumbleweed"]dllfo....... What I mean't was to forget the batterys all together and run the XPAP and humidifier off the generator. The Hondas have circuitry built in to allow even sensitive equipment like a computer to run off it. And at almost 2 nights per gallon of gas, it's a lot less hassle than dealing with batterys and recharging and such. IMHO

That's a great idea, but if you are in a campground or an area where other people are trying to camp and sleep at the same time they seem to get a little hostile if a Generator is running past 2100 hrs. (9:00 pm) And try doing that at an Endurance Ride where people are going to get up at 0300hrs to go ride a horse for 25, 50, or even 100 miles in an Endurance race.

Now what is a good invertor to get I am going to install a couple of solar panels on the roof of my RV I can get a 15w panel to keep the house batteries charged but I was thinking about maybe getting a couple of
115 w , panels and maybe a good invertor. I see Resmed recommends a 300 watt invertor , but not sure so anyone have a better idea. I know that the two solar panels 115w will cost just a little under $2100.00, and I can add up to 5 panels with the controller. But I think that a little over kill just to keep two 6v deep cycle batteries charge. but they say one panel will keep the batteries charge to where we will only have to run the Generator every couple of days if we have good sun light. If we go with 2 panels and add four more batteries we could go for up to 5 days dry camping.
And adding the extra batteries we could use our Microwave.

A 2 pound battery? How long could it last? Have you used it successfully?

Yes I have used it successfully on 1 camping trip for 3 nights without a recharge. It's the size of two laptop batteries with all of the jacks and control on one end.

12 volt pulg polarity help

Post by bluenorth » Wed Jun 07, 2006 12:18 pm

I have a 12 cord with a universal connection plug that also allows me to change polarity in the center post. Can anyone tell me if the center post is positive or negative on the 12 volt connection on a respironics bipap I have looked high and low for this info with no luck, and I need it soon as I will be on camping this weekend.

I have a Remstar Plus and it needs a full 12V. Not 11.8V. So as soon as my battery gets below 90%, the unit shuts down

The battery you reference ([url]http://www.batterygeek.net/Portable_Pow ... ek.htm/url] is rated at 130Wh (watt hours). At 12 volts that converts to 10.83 Ah (amp hours). Leaving a 20% charge buffer is wise so that leaves me with 8.663 Ah. My RemStar Pro draws about 1.1 amps/hour on 11cm. I would get almost 8 hours (7.85) out of a charge. How you got 3 nights (3 2.5hr nights?) is a mystery to me. For me the math just wouldn't work out. But it's still impressive for a 2lb. battery.

bit late to reply to this, just catching up on past stuff

at 11 volts the battery is flat, the cpap could be shutting down because the wires between the cpap and the battery are too small and you are getting a voltage drop, try using big wires, maybe # 10, so that the cpap sees full battery voltage. so I am told anyway.

My camping set-up

Post by EarlyStarts » Sun Jul 30, 2006 11:09 am

I went camping with my remstar plus. I used a deep cycle battery and purchased a generic plug from walmart for $7 that plugged in the back of the remstar and the other end had a cigarette adapter. (I didn’t have time to order the remstar plug and I am too cheap)

It will not power the humidifier but it turned out fine for me not using it for a week.

Before I went with this setup I tried to use an inverter to power the rig but during my trial at home I ran out of juice in the middle of the night.

I never had the battery run out on my while camping but I found a spot to have it charged and did so after two days.

Camping with my CPAP

Post by Patrick A » Sun Jul 30, 2006 5:20 pm

I will be going up to the High Sierras of California this next week in my Motor Home. We are going to be there for about three days. My cpap is not auto. How do I adjust my cpap for the altitude?
