Sleepyhead software, what experience do people have

Post by sleepy1235 » Sat Sep 07, 2013 6:16 pm

It seems from what I am reading the Sleepyhead software is good. People consider it a great benefit. I am planning on downloading it. If it works, I plan on making a donation, like $100.

However, I am cautious, and don't have good background information on the creator. I usually buy specialty software from CNET downloads.

So a lot of people here downloaded the software and found it satisfactory. Also, did they find there was no problems with donations.

I am thinking of downloading it tomorrow.

How many people hear use it, don't use it. If you have an alternative, what is it? I have a S9 Elite.

SleepyHead is super software. Easy to use and has some fun features too.
The creator of SleepyHead is a forum member.. and a cpap user and originally designed SH for the PR S1 machine that he was using to try to create something more user friendly and less problematic than the Respironics software at the time.
It was so nice that the ResMed S9 users got green with envy and begged Mark to add S9 compatibility to SleepyHead.
Mark did most of the work all by himself and there was a lot of work to do...plus he added a Mac version and also compatibility for the F & P Icon and the Devilibiss machine. Donations are always appreciated but not mandatory.
SleepyHead is still Beta and barely Beta but the little bugs are for the most part minor.

ResScan is the official ResMed software designed only for DMEs and doctor's offices but as with anything on the internet...we have ways of finding things. I will send you a private message in a few minutes with more information on ResScan.
It presents the same data as SleepyHead except it only goes to 1 decimal point with its calculations where SH goes to hundredths.
The data is presented visually different but essentially the same data. I usually suggest that people try both and see if there is one that they prefer or not. When I had my S9 machine I used SleepyHead primarily but ResScan shows a nice red line at 24 L/min leak mark where large leak territory begins...makes it real easy to see how much over 24 L/min and how long. SleepyHead doesn't give a red line...so maybe not quite so easy to spot a large leak. There are some other features as in printed reports and viewing of graphs but I didn't find those to be something that mattered to me. I mainly used ResScan for that red line because sometimes I did go past it and I wanted to know for sure how far and how long so I could decide if the leaks were bad enough to worry about.
I could still do the same with SH but ResScan let me eyeball it at a glance.

Welcome to the forum.

Does Sleepyhead work with Respironics REMstar Plus? I have tried and tried to get the stupid Sleep Mapper program to work and I'm fed up. From what I have found here, it's not so great anyway. If Sleepyhead doesn't work, is there something else that might? I'm new to CPAP, still working on adjusting my mask for leaks, and would like to be able to see how it's doing. More than once, I've woken up with it leaking air. I understand that it takes time and that's fine. I just wonder how much it's leaking while I'm sleeping. Add curiosity to it too, obviously.

It doesn't work on machines that don't provide usable data.

What is the exact model number for your machine? The model number is a 3 digit number of the bottom of the blower unit on a little sticker with an 8 digit number which is the manufacture date in year/month/day format.

If it is less than 450 model number...your machine doesn't collect any useful data for any software to gather. The only thing it gathers is hours of use that is used to satisfy any insurance compliance requirements.

The Respironics Remstar Plus...probably a Phillips Respironics System One Remstar Plus (that Remstar is useless name as it has been used since time began on all their machines) either model 150 or maybe 160 or if it has CFlex Plus showing on the machine than a 250 or 260 model. If that is what you have then you might want to read this blog especially the part down near the bottom of the page.

First, the model number is DS260S. Next, thank you sooooo much for the USEFUL information! It's nice that the boneheads at DME set me up with this thing, tell me to download SleepMapper, tell me allllll about all the useful information, so I get frustrated because it's not doing what they told me it should. Now I know why it's not working. I'll be giving them a call on Monday. Thanks again.

I have tried several times to use the SleepMapper SD card upload utility but the software always says my credentials don't match the memory card? There are no credentials on the card itself that I am aware of and the credentials I use on the SleepMapper utility are the same ones I use on SleepMapper.com

Sleepyhead is a AMAZING program and is a part of my CPAP treatment. If I ever met Mark, I would give him a big bro hug and buy him the best cigar and scotch…so instead I just donate to help in his efforts. If I had to buy the sleepyhead software…for $50….I'd click purchase in a heartbeat. It well worth the money…but its free software. How much is your sleep and health worth to you? I'm a Mac user, so Sleepyhead is my only option.

I have used CNET for years with no issues but a couple of weeks ago I found that some changes have been made and you have to be super careful and make sure you don't inadvertently download the crap they are now trying to push on you.
I don't use them anymore since there are others that don't play those games.
