No, not true.
One of the things I noticed about the Pilairo was that the venting noise was much louder than with my (at that time) Swift FX nasal pillow mask.
I have had occasion to try many nasal pillow masks over the years and some are indeed louder than others when it comes to vented noise.

Try a different nasal pillow mask if you can. There definitely is indeed a difference in the noise.

Pugsy...I know this might come across wrong but I don't have many funds to keep trying differing nasal pillows...do you have a suggestion or two that might fit my needs? Thanks.

If you don't have insurance to help you out with trying various masks and want to try a different nasal pillow mask and are short on funds there are a couple of options.
Forum member mcdover might have a nasal pillow mask that is slightly used (if that doesn't gross you out) for I think $20 plus shipping. We used to have a cpap auction here but it got closed down a couple of years ago. That's how I was able to try a bunch of masks without spending a fortune.
Also cpap.com offers return insurance that a person can purchase with a mask and if the mask doesn't work out then it can be returned and a refund of cost for the mask is given minus of course the cost of the insurance.

Sometimes forum members are willing to donate there mask experiment failures. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

The Swift FX was the quietest mask I have ever tried until I got the new Tap Pap...and it is practically silent and my pressures start out at 10 exhale and 14 inhale.
Cpap.com has the Tap Pap with free return insurance if you think it might interest you.
The Swift FX nasal pillow mask...has free return insurance also. I just looked because I wanted to tell you how much it cost as it used to be around $20 but I was pleasantly surprised to see it is now free.

Take a stroll through the nasal pillow masks to see which ones might interest you.
My personal preferences (and I have tried almost all of them) would be the Tap Pap, the Swift FX, the Aloha.. in that order.
See if anything interests you. Tell us here and if you can't afford to buy a new one maybe someone will have one they can give you if you aren't grossed out by slightly used. Slightly used never bothered me because everything is easily cleaned but I understand that it bothers some people. I don't have any nasal pillow masks in my stash of donated items that people have sent me to give away...those went really fast but I have some new pillows for various nasal pillow masks.

Tell us what might look interesting to you and maybe we can find one to help you out.
