Well, your response is about what I expected. I have yet to run across a progressive that is willing to civilly talk about the issues and debate the points as we see them. Not saying you are one, just that I've never run across one who was otherwise.
I feel sorry for people that only want to call people despicable vulgar names, throw the race cards, and run away. I think it's because they know their position is illogical nonsense, based on a bad, emotional investment in something they thought when they were younger was a good position and now can't admit they were wrong for fear of looking something like a fool.
You know that because they never participate in a discussion in a civil manner. If they just simply had a differing opinion, they would be happy to explain their position. The thing is, like Wilcow says, we conservatives are right, the progressives/marxists are wrong, our arguments can't be broken. All you get are emotionally stoked hate filled name calling and illegitimate distractions at best. It's a waste of time to think they have a shred of decency and civility.

Well said! The left's standard operating procedure is to respond to all challenges to their positions by changing the subject and then attacking the questioner. These are hate-filled individuals indeed who believe the right to free speech only applies to those who believe as they do. They just can't seem to understand that this country was founded on the primacy of the individual; that all our freedoms come from God and that the sole purpose of the Constitution was to protect those individual, God-given rights. Now, Catnstuf will tell you there is no God. This is very significant, and it also explains why the left is generally so determined to remove God from all public discourse. Because, you see, if there is no God, then government becomes the source of all true freedoms. Sad, truly sad.islandboy5150 wrote:Cutnstuf wrote:What's really alarming is your avatar. Hmm, you're asking for a civil conversation but yet you start off engaging in name calling regarding progressive positions and then you say you are totally right and we are wrong. And you're the one who started off with a hateful subject line that contributes nothing to this board and didn't seem to understand why it was so upsetting that even people who don't participate in political threads commented on the inappropriateness of the topic.islandboy5150 wrote:Cutnstuf wrote:What's really alarming is your avatar. And funny, progressives have said the same thing about thinking that right wingers don't have any sense of decency and civility.

Wow Rd1978, you're criticizing cutnstuff for a hate filled post but that is exactly what you are doing. You might want to look at your own actions first before criticizing other people. Escalating an argument by calling someone an idiot and then an imbecile isn't exactly making a good case for your side.rd1978 wrote:Well said! Dear God... why do people like this even exist? Really, you should have taken a little more time and made them a tad more intelligent and able to actually think for themselves.rd1978 wrote:Well said! Sadly, the people on this forum who are the best at refuting this type of garbage no longer even bother... think I'll do the same.

I understand that people differ politically but when I feel you are essentially imposing your religious beliefs on other people, I have a big time problem with that. I am not very good at refuting this garbage either so perhaps I need to stop responding to these posts.

PS - By the way, RD1978, there are people on the left who believe in god. You need to stop this stereotyping that ironically you accuse progressives of doing to the right.

What kind of a bleeping question is that? So anyone who doesn't agree with you is anti American? OMG, is this what things have come to?Catnstuf brings it all on himself. By the way, I'm on the side of America. Which side are you on?
Anyway, I am going to bow out of this discussion as I don't have time for this nonsense. And have fun with all your wild accusations.

Simply childish!
But the worst part is that it doesn't even qualify as childish thinking!!! ... I don't mind a reasoned debate where issues are actually discussed. (And there was some discussion early in this post). But it's devolved to childish name calling. Go to a school playground if you need to do that!!
Please, can we just let this one drop ??!!
