I ran across this sleep monitoring device and thought some fellow cpap'ers would be interested. With the Zeo out of commission, our options are limited for the time being. It is avalible for pre order @ $99 and ships in Nov '13.
Beddit - Automatic sleep and wellness tracker. Turn your bed into a smart bed.
The Beddit sensor tracks your sleep quality, heart rate, and breathing under the sheet while you sleep. The app coaches you to improve sleep and performance.
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/beddi ... -smart-bed
Features
Sleep Measurement
Bed time
Awakenings and bed exits
Sleep time
Sleep latency (the time it takes to fall asleep)
Resting heart rate
Sleep quality
Snoring and Breathing
The iOS and the Android apps are scheduled to be launched simultaneously.
They have a non mobile connected device currently on the market for $400
But it would be cheaper to buy this unit + a mobile device if you currently do not own an Android or IOS device.
This unit looks like it will be selling for $150 after this Indiegogo campaign is over.

Looks like it uses an accelerometer rather than an EEG, so you won't be able to know or track your sleep stages (REM, deep, light, ...) accurately throughout the night. This product probably can guess at them though based on movements recorded during sleep (it also looks like their accelerometers are sensitive enough to record kinematic acceleration due to breathing and heartbeats).
I wish them the best of luck at the $400 price point. That hardware shown certainly costs less than $50 to manufacture FYI, and I'm not convinced that this really adds that much extra value over apps that just use the phone's built-in accelerometer like "Sleep as Android" and "Sleep Cycle" for iPhone.

Off topic, but does anyone know if the ZEO headbands are available anywhere? I have the bedside unit but, without a working headband, it's just a nice clock.
I agree that $400 is a bit pricey for this new device. My ZEO was around $130 or so. That said, they went under at that price...

You can get a fitbit bracelet for about $99.
Their accelerometer-based sleep tracking is quite a bit more portable, durable, etc,
than a fragile strip under the bedding; and probably about as accurate--if accelerometer data can be trusted.
I'm waiting to see if Melon EEG headbands might do the job.
They blew away their Kickstarter goal. I might bite if I can get one for under $150.
Otherwise, I still have spare Zeo headbands.
It has been suggested that surface-cleaning the pads with rubbing alcohol will help extend their life.
Or I could just sleep and just look at my sleepyhead data more.

Well, whatever the business model, it's always a requirement to sell something for more than it costs to make it. Otherwise there is no business. Or model. Apparently, ZEO was not doing that.

Not exactly an accelerometer and not exactly $400. Accelerometers can't measure heart rate and breathing rate. This measures via cardio/respiratory and not simple Fitbit arm movements. None of this matters anymore as the introductory period for the $99 is over.
The guy behind Zeo explains the Beddit device if anyone cares.
