CPAP: The saga continues

Post by ThisIsMyUserName » Mon Sep 02, 2013 7:59 am

So I'm about six weeks in. I definitely feel better, but, boy have there been ups and downs. I'm finding that, on the whole, I feel better; this weekend was the first in years where I didn't just spend the whole day looking for free time to take naps. I'm dreaming long, vivid dreams most nights, which I can't remember having for almost a decade. I'm getting more and more used the machine, and keep it on almost all night every night, with rare wakings from discomfort. But I'm finding myself having weird emotional side effects; weird downness, kind of edgy a lot, having more trouble watching what I eat than usual. Last week I had a night where I couldn't sleep and the next day I was a complete, total wreck. So I'm hopeful, but it's not easy.

I had some of your symptoms, but not all of them... we are all different and respond to treatment differently. Give it time. Your body has probably been lacking proper sleep in years and it doesn't "know how" to respond to the change... even good or bad changes (in this case "good" changes). Again, give it time... you are treating your body good and it will eventually respond positively.

Unexpected "down" feeling: I can relate. Before cpap, I was wired on adrenaline until around noon.
After, my brain stopped making so much. (I started enjoying a morning cup of Joe, maybe just a little for the buzz)
