The full face mask will make a huge difference for you. But I'm really glad for you that you are adjusting to the therapy. When you get the mask in line you should be able to sleep through the night with minimal awakenings. I'm not saying none, since as we get older heading into the head is something we all need to do during the night.TahoeGal wrote:... So after continuous flapping lips last night, I thought I'd try ... I was able to get them [DME] to order the right machine for me (I hope). They told me it would come next week sometime. I am also having them bring a FFM when they deliver the machine. ...

If you like nasal pillows, a hybrid is also an option, but they aren't for everyone.
They also officially only support up to 20 cmH2O pressure, and your ASV can go up to 25, so whether it works will depend on how high the pressure goes for you. Mine almost never spikes that high (maybe one breath every few weeks), and when it does, I usually wake up.
It just turns out my muscles really relax when I sleep, so I mouth leak with very little pressure, get aerophagia with very low pressure, etc. Fun times.

Thanks sawinglogz. What is a hybrid mask? I have both pillows and a nose-only mask. I've been switching them around to see what works best. So far there hasn't been a difference.
Last night I slept really well until 3. Then the lip flapping began. I put up with constant flapping for an hour, then did the no-no and took the mask off. As I tried to go to sleep I kept apneaing. (I had this problem before being diagnosed) This went on for a while and at some point I fell asleep.
Really makes me wonder if the lip flapping is me actually having apneas.

More than likely, the answer is "Yes!". When you stop breathing the pressure ramps up. But that also means the pressure causes the lip flapping. And of course that means it can not get the pressure high enough to be effective. If you can stop those large leaks (the lip flapping), then it might not need to ramp the pressure up as high.TahoeGal wrote:... The hybrid mask is a combination of a full face mask with nasal pillows:
