Any MAC Users using parallels or boot camp for Encore?

Post by beautifuldreamer » Mon Aug 26, 2013 12:07 pm

Just curious if anybody using a Mac Computer has installed parallels or made a partition to use boot camp to be able to use SleepyHead or Encore to read data from SD card from PAP device?

I am trying to decide which option might be more economical and efficient for me to use for that purpose?

Also, if I do use parallels or bootcamp, I will need to buy a version of bootcamp. the OEM version only allows for one installation, and I may be upgrading my Mac for a new MAC in the next Year . . .

Any insight or advice on this?

Thanks bunches

I have a MacMini with Parallels 8 and use SleepyHead Windows Version without problems. Took me awhile to figure out how to make SD card slot available under parallels. But it is working great. I'm using Windows 7 Pro for my VM.

Thanks STL Mark - did you get 32 bit or 64 bit on the Windows? I don't even know what that means- but I am using a MacBook Pro, running OS 10.8.4

I use VM fusion with Win 7 on my i mac. It has 8 Gigs of memory. When your in windows which of course is running in VM Fusion. You can also work in the mac. With the 8 Gigs of memory you don't notice or get slowed down by win or anti virus downloads.
VM Fusion can be tried for 30 days before having to pay for it.

Using BC and it's terrific - the transfer of stuff was so easy (tho' I no longer use Encore).

Hi beautifuldreamer,

I am confused -- I'm running SleepyHead on the MacOS so I don't understand why you (or STL Mark or others) would go to the trouble of setting it up on a Mac to run under Windows? I do understand about Encore, which is "Windows-only" -- I can only use that program when I get to borrow time on a Windows machine. I think I recall trying to have Encore Viewer run under Wine on my Mac, with no success. I don't use Boot Camp or Parallels, so can't chime in on that.

Since SleepyHead has a Mac version I just use that. But when I bought my CMS-50F oximeter last year I researched how to run Windows on a Mac because the oximeter software doesn't have a Mac version. At the time I figured out that the cost of buying a cheap pc netbook was actually less than the cost of buying Parallels plus Windows for my Mac.

OP has a new PR S1 model 760 and even with the Patch file the Mac version doesn't work for her machine. It has been tried but doesn't work.

If one does a little research...it will show that a Mac is the best and most reliable computer to run Windows.

Thanks all
(Thanks Pugsy for explaining my situation).

After researching prices and such, I was able to run around to a couple of different electronic stores to purchase Parallels and Windows 7 (64 bit) Premium Home version At a meeting now, and will try installing everything later tonight
