What's Happening Here?

Post by Gparr » Fri Aug 23, 2013 12:10 pm

I am coming up on 3 months of CPAPing and there seems to be a change. If you remember my DME put me on a full faced mask and being claustrophobic it was just not going to work. I talked her into "giving" me the mirage nasal mask which worked wonders. I have been 100% compliant and more than willing with the nasal mask since June 8.

So...I still have not felt that any change was happening...still sluggish in the morning...very tired in the afternoon, etc...until...3 days ago. I seem to fall asleep within 5-10 minutes from the time a put on the mask (could be an hour or so before then) and I was sleeping much better...waking up with what seems like enery to begin the day...and there is no afternoon nap needed. I have also noticed my AHI has dipped below 2 now.

Might it be that I have finally turned the corner and my body has accepted this big change?

Could be something as simple as just getting a little more sleep and a little better quality sleep at that.

If in the past you had trouble getting to sleep (like that hour it would take you) now if it doesn't take so long you are getting more sleep.

I discovered that an extra 45 minutes makes a big difference in how I feel. I discovered that fact when I changed to the bilevel machine and I felt better with everything pretty much being the same except on the bilevel machine I was averaging 45 minutes to an hour more sleep than I had been averaging on the APAP machine.

So maybe a little more sleep in general and maybe a little better quality sleep also.
