Just got diagnosed and was told to buy
RESMED S 9 auto ( 975$)
and a nasal mask silicon FP Eson
I have severe " multiple Chemical Sensitivities" MCS and wonder how I can tolerate all the plastic and if there are products for chemical sensitve people availbale.
But anyhow I am thankful for any advice.

Welcome to the Forum!!!
take a look at this cloth mask: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/sleepw ... -cpap.html
i do not use it but many people here have tried it
another idea would be to use Pad a Cheek liners to keep the silicone away from your skin: http://padacheek.com/

Re: newbie
Good suggestions for mask and liners. My RT told me he has patients who won't try the newer Elan (or any other mask) as they love the advance). I've tried the newer Elan cloth mask and it was the most comfortable mask I've ever used but Rt seems to think I may like the Advance even better. Like all masks, some people love them and others just can't use them. Good luck with what ever you choose and welcome to the Forum.oak wrote:Welcome to the Forum!!!

Re: newbie
bluesky5, hello -- Make sure it's the S9 Autoset and not the S9 Escape Auto. The difference is that the Escape machine does not record any information that will help you see if your treatment is effective, it only records hours of use so that insurance compliance requirements can be tracked. We call those machines "bricks."
For the S9 Autoset, our forum host cpap.com is selling the machine and humidifier for less than the amount you listed. If you're buying the machine outright, check out the prices here: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/resme ... chine.html

Re: newbie
bluesky5 didnt they tell you to get the humidifier with your S9Autoset?? It would be unusual to go without a humidifer.
and yes, you can google "sleepweaver advance" too, for another popular cloth mask.

Thanks oak, and I forgot to mention that the S9 Autoset AND the humidifier together cost less than the price the OP referred to.oak wrote:bluesky5 didnt they tell you to get the humidifier with your S9Autoset?? It would be unusual to go without a humidifer.

Re: newbie
$975 about what my insurance paid a local DME provider just for the cpap unit and another $200 for the humidifer. dont know if OP is buying it or getting it through insurance, but if OP is buying it --better to go online, either at cpap.com for new or secondwind cpap for gently used.

Re: newbie
Thank you all for the great advice. I started reading the links. He also prescribed a heated humidifier, the Resmed H 5C and this has a stainless steel water chamber. All was included in the price. I am very interested in the cloth mask, looks good.
I was always sleeping on the side or even on my belly. Not sure how this will work with the mask.
