SD card question

Post by birdygirl38 » Mon Aug 05, 2013 11:49 am

Will any SD card work in my Respironics CPAP machine. When I got my new Wisp mask the tech wanted the chip to download for the doctor and promised to send it back in 2 days. It has been a week and I don't know if the new mask is working as well without the data to check it.

Yes, any generic SD card will work in the PR S1 machine.
You may not be able to find the smaller 1 GB card and may only be able to find a 4 GB card...that's okay. Bigger will work just fine.
I got a 2 GB Sandisk card at Walmart for mine a while back. Not sure they still offer 2 GBs now but it doesn't hurt to go bigger.

I've used 2 and 4 GB cards which worked well.
I would be cautious with the really big capacity SD cards.

every card, every size, every capacity, even microcards in the adapter work. basically if it fits in the slot, it will work.

This has NOT been true for me. My PR System One (50 series) balks if I stick in the newer SDHC cards. It only works with the older plain SD cards. And those plain SD cards (which usually have 1-4 Gig of room) are getting harder and harder to find.

Just a guess, but I think it might depend on how old the machine is. The newer it is, the more likely it's card drive will work with a 4GB or greater SDHC card. For example, my ResMed S9 is 2 years old, and won't work with SDHC, but I believe the others with newer S9s will work with SDHC.

Update: After looking at some old posts, I couldn't remember for sure if an SDHC card worked for me or not. I put a 4GB SDHC card in the machine, and it's had the "Erasing Card" message going for 10 minutes. I'll give it some more time to see if anything happens.

Update Again: Looks like I was wrong. It succeeded in formatting the SDHC card. Looks like I didn't contribute much to this thread

When I got the new card and put it in to download it worked but I found that I lost a month of data from before the chip was taken out.
I had taken the machine on vacation and the only thing I can figure happened is that the chip wasn't clicked all the way in from transporting it and I didn't realize it until I put the new one in. Could there be any other reason? The new chip starts from when I put it in after I got the answers from you all about getting my own SD card to replace the one the tech never sent back.
