My impression is that these data files are deleted at the end of one week.
I think that the medical record in this case is the sleep study report and not the detailed data needed to create the report.
Next time I talk to my friend, I'll ask to get a clarification of their practices.

In my particular case, this level of detail is no longer available for my sleep study done about two and a half years ago at a different institution so what my friend said didn't seem out of line.

Your mention of a seven year retention corresponds with my experience in retrieving a CT scan I had done years ago at still another institution. When I asked for a copy, they told me it was about to be destroyed (the original was on film not in electronic format) and they would just retrieve the original and give it to me.

Lucky for me that I didn't wait another month or it would have been gone forever.

OT - does anyone out there know how to take a series of .JPG images and convert them into a standard DICOM image set that can be viewed with a DICOM viewer?

Thanks NateS

This goes from DICOM to JPG, etc.
I'm looking for one that does the reverse.

oak,

Have you copied and put the report they gave you up here on cpaptalk (after whiting or blacking out your name, etc.)?

If so, where/in what thread can we find it? If not, would you do so?

It is really hard to comment on the value of the data you were furnished without seeing it.

Regards, Nate

Nate, They are at this address:

I doubt if the neurologist/sleep doc is going to get much information from that report. But thats okay. I tried to get the data on CD without luck. 'ce la vie. I am not going to waste any more time or sleep over it.

CPAP is going well but my legs still burn and overwhelming urge to move them is even more noticeable since CPAP. Cant wait to see some docs that might actually investigate rather than tell me to get my humidity or pressure changed by a tech to help the leg problem!

oak,
I tried to put these up on Photobucket for you so that everyone, including those more experienced and expert than I, can review them right here on cpaptalk, but I am having trouble getting them in order and sufficiently large to read. Sorry. Probably a direct upload from you to PB would work better.

thanks Nate. If you click on the prescription one first that I uploaded to flickr, they double in size and then you can just click on the left arrows and they are all in order. I dont know how to do what you described with photobucket and I dont know how to get it in a post right here.

thanks for trying. Oak
