Can't locate today's data on SD card in sleepyhead

Post by ellen1159 » Sun Jul 28, 2013 9:39 am

For some reason I can't seem to upload my data from earlier today into sleepyhead. I tried "usual and remembered" locations and new location (tried the F drive, where I put the SD card into the laptop. But when I click on today's date, I get "No data" from both locations.

The card seemed to be clicked into place when I removed it. I was able to sleep for a couple of hours from about 2 to 4 am today and I was anxious to see how I did on the lowered pressure settings.

Should I perhaps uninstall the program, then reinstall?

Try this first before uninstalling.

Put the SD card back in the PR S1 machine and let it go through its little "reading the SD card" thing.
Then remove it and try importing again. Create a new location again and make sure that you stop at the F drive location where the SD card sits. Don't go into the folder.

And see if you now have data from last night.

Did what you suggested but still no data from my usage early this morning. Just the data that I imported for the first time yesterday.

Its a PITA to do, but you might want to install Encore Viewer or Encore Pro if you've got a PC. Pugsy can help you find Encore. If Encore will load the data, then the problem might be a corrupt .005 (wave form) file on the SD card itself. If Encore can load the data, then you might try sticking a brand new SD card into the machine and seeing if SH can load the new card. If the problem is indeed a corrupt .005 file, then this trick should work since the .005 files are not stored on-board. You'll lose the wave forms for the day and (possibly all previous days), but that's a small price to pay to get the data to start loading again into SH.

The reason I mention this is that I have the very rare day where SH won't load the data, but Encore will. It's typically after something "bad" has happened (a power surge; a power outage; or a bad battery) that apparently has corrupted one of the wave form files on the SD card. The last time it happened was when I was camping and the battery went nuts and I blew a fuse in the DC card. Encore could load the data; SH 0.8.* could load the data (but showed no wave form); but SH 0.9.2 could not load the data. And the troubling thing on this one was that SH 0.9.2 simply would not load any data *after* that day either. And I tried making a new profile in SH 0.9.2 and that didn't work either.

I eventually had the time to back up all the files on the SD card and by painful process of elimination I was able to figure out which of the .005 (wave form) files was causing the problems and delete it from the SD card itself.

Okay...

Do you know how to navigate into the SD card itself to find out if the files are even there?
Go into the P series folder and then to the P folder with the serial number behind the P and open it...to the P0 folder and open the P0 folder and look for files with today's date on the as when modified...they would also have the highest number. Normally 3 files per session...
xxx.001, xxx.002 and xxx.005 (edit for typo)
If you see those 3 files shown with today's date beside them...then something is wrong with the import process...those are the files for last night.

If you don't see any files with today's date on them try this.
With the SD card removed from the PR S1 machine....unplug the machine for a minute from the electric source...then plug it back in...then put the SD card in it and watch the screen to make sure it is recognized....then attempt another import.

Do you have EncoreBasic yet? If not maybe we need to try it to see if the problem is with the files or with SleepyHead or with your import procedure.
You can of course uninstall SleepyHead and try again.

Pugsy,

On the Series 50 machines the files are named xxx.001, xxx.002, and xxx.005. The xxx.005 is the wave form.

Do the Series 60 machines name the files differently?

Robysue: Can I just go and buy an SD card from Staples and use it, or do the SD cards for this machine have some kind of formatting on them? My SD card says Philips Respironics and has a part number.

Pugsy: Before attempting to go into the SD card files, I'm taking another nap! I'm whipped. I just removed teh SD card from the machine, unplugged the machine for aminute, then plugged it back in and reinserted the SD card.

If I'm able to sleep for few hours I'll attempt to import today's data again. If it doesn't work I'll try going into the SD card folder to see what is the most recent file.

Thanks so much for your help.

I had the same problem this morning. I thought it might just be the software so I opened rescan and loaded there and it loaded fine. I then opened sleepyhead again and it loaded fine???? idk?? but it worked.

Here's an odd thought - if you click on today's date before Noon, you'll get no data. Last night's data is listed under yesterday's date.

Yes, I see files with today's date on them. three different files (xxx.001, xxx.002, xxx.005).

So the files are on the SD card, it's an import problem. Hmmm.

Should I uninstall and reinstall? Or should I just install Encore? Encore is not free like Sleepyhead, right?

You can sure uninstall and install SH again...wouldn't hurt.
Check your PM from me where I mentioned Windows and you need to read the Help section for how to use EncoreBasic.
There's a free link for Encore in that PM.

Okay, it loaded last night's data. I only slept an hour with the mask on and I'm not sure how much of that time I was asleep (I did dream).

Look at the leak rate.

Was I leaking so badlly that nothing got recorded?

Leaks over 100 L/min can directly effect the sensing and recording abilities of the machine.
The times spent at 100 or above..yes the machine might have just threw up its little arms and say "I can't do it".
But the other time where the leak was much less would be accurate.
You would need to look at the detailed report from EncoreBasic to see exactly when the large leak flags were shown and how prolonged the times were.

What do the numbers on the leak summary mean: Min 38.00, Med 44.00, 95% 179, Max 179?
