a FF mask is NOT for curing dry mouth, it is so your therapy air pressure goes down the right orafice.

open your mouth with a nasal mask and the air goes out the mouth and does nothing, your just wasting electricity.

In short, I use a full face because it is more comfortable than a nasal mask & chinstrap. If I don't use a chinstrap, and sometimes if I do, the air being pumped into me short circuits and comes out of my mouth. My wife mentioned that it sounds like 1 long exhale for 15 min or until I change positions. Of course the short circuit registers as a huge leak.

another question for you full-face mask users...

Post by lvehko » Thu Jun 15, 2006 2:40 pm

At my set-up study, the sleep tech told me that they don't use full-face masks much anymore because they cause more aerophagia (air into the stomach). Have any of you full-face mask users noticed this? Anyone used both a full-face and nasal mask and able to make a comparison?

Thanks -- Minerva

Nope, sure haven't noticed any symptoms of aerophagia.

I've used both full face & nasal & swallowed air with both of them, my kids are impressed with my newfound ability to relieve the gas on command.

yup, i'm sold on the comfortfull 2, works great once i broke it in, i can do the comfortgel nasal too, but i have congestion off and on so i can't use it much, as to having more aerophagia i don't have much of that with either of the two, i maybe swallow enough to make me belch once in the morning when i get up but that's it, so not much in that area.
