ResMed S9 Missing Last 2 Hours of Data

Post by davebolin » Thu Jul 18, 2013 8:36 am

I have been recently diagnosed and have a new ResMed S9. Everything appears to be working correctly. When I take the SD card out and xfer the data into both ResCan and SH I am missing the final 2 hours of sleep data every night. I thought the time on the machine may be wrong but that's not the case (the start time and break times are correct). I do not remove the card from the machine for 2 to 3 hours after I turn it off in the morning. It has to be something with the machine (maybe in the settings somewhere?) because the data is consistently the same in both software programs every night. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for your help,
Dave

What time does the machine say it is?
What time do you normally sleep? Are you perhaps a shift worker sometimes sleeping through the Noon hour? If so, noon (on the machine) is when the cut off point happens to be and a new day is started. So any sleep time data past noon will be included on the next day's report.
There are ways to eliminate this break and loss (though it really isn't lost) of hours of therapy...if this is what is happening in your situation.
We can alter the S9 clock or we can alter SH...can't do anything in ResScan but altering the S9 clock will fix it in ResScan.

If you aren't sleeping past noon...something else is going on.

I am not sleeping past noon. Passing midnight does not appear to be a problem. This is happening overnight and the end times differ depending what time I get up in the morning. It constantly eliminates the last 2 hours of sleep no matter what time I get up. Also the clock is set correctly.

Is there a break in therapy during the time frame of the session?

Like are you turning off the machine for a bathroom break or something and then turning it back on for another 2 hours...or is the machine just dropping the last 2 hours with the machine not being even turned off.

If you go look at the total hours of use for a night....is the total hours of use accurate and only the partial graphs that are missing or is the hours of use incorrect along with missing graphs?

Can you post an image of a night where this 2 hour drop is showing up?
Any chance leaks are an issue? If leaks are big the S9 may not be able to sense things properly.
I have to ask just to make sure.

I have a similar problem...last time I sent my card in for a read, it came back with no data for the past 3 MONTHS...I checked the card on my computer and found this to be true...when I took the card out of the CPAP, it definitely clicked out. I checked it several days later, and it had started recording data from the point at which I got it back...still don't know what's going on. I just sent it in for another read (insurance requirements) so we'll see what comes back this time!

Good luck with your issue!

Sounds like the doc or RT that examined the data on your card inadvertently deleted the 3 months of data. I experienced a ~similar quirk once (ResScan couldn't read ANY of the data on the returned card when I got it back home). I went back and asked for and received a new card with ALL my data on it. They had all my data stored on their computer hard drive. I'm guessing they have all of your data as well. Go get it back on a new card.

Sorry it took me a day to update the situation. My DME replaced the machine. I don't know what the problem was. They were dropping off a mask for me anyway yesterday so I called them with the problem and they swapped out the machine with another new one.
Thanks for everyones help.
