NasalAire

Post by Sleepless on LI » Mon May 08, 2006 6:28 pm

Ouch...made a big mistake. I bought a NasalAire on an auction and unless I'm doing something wrong, it's ridiculous! I know there are some members here who have had success with it, so I'm calling out to you: H E L P !!!!!

Are there any tricks of the trade when it comes to getting this to work, not leak, not hurt, etc.? If not, anyone want to buy this priceless work of art? I hate to part with it, but I'll consider letting it go for the right price .

Get rid of the headband that comes with it. I use only the band in the back. Some people don't even use that.

The prongs should fit just slightly snug. A little KY helps at first. Nose sore? Build up to it. A little Oral Gel applied to the nose will numb it till you get to sleep. Try to build up to more than a few days. Two days on, one day off, three days on, one day off, etc. Have a good back up mask available if needed during the night. Don't give up too quick. It takes a while for the prongs to shape up to your nares.

It was my first mask and now my seventh mask. I just got a new one. It is my favorite. I use it a majority of the time.

I hope I have given you some help, and wish you the best. If you end up not liking it, and it is a size small, PM me.

ML,

Thank you so much for the great suggestions. Perhaps that's the problem, that the prongs haven't adjusted to my nares. They are too big, I'm afraid, too. Did yours leak a lot in the beginning or is that a sign of it just not fitting? And HOW did you keep it in place without the headband? I don't think that could happen for me.

It's great to hear that someone loves it that much to own so many of them, but I can't envision me ever saying that. Although I guess sometimes true love takes time to bloom.

I guess it stands to reason that the prongs can't be too big. If they are they will not go up in the nose. They should be big enough to not leak. KY around it helps makes a good seal.

I wear the mask, very easily. Run the tubes from your nose around over the ears, and put the little straight band on just like you would a "glasses" band just to tie them together. Some don't even do this. The little bolo band can also be used. I do. You can drape the hose connector to the front or the back, depending on how you sleep.

Work on it. As I said, I love it.

Good Luck............Chuck

Chuck,

Thank you. I'm going to go fool around with the config and see if I can get it to work, using gel this time. I'm afraid the prongs are too big, though. Maybe I'll spend the $$$ and order the sizing kit. Can you buy replacement prongs, though, for the plain NA, not the NAII? If so, are they the same replacment prongs or somewhat different?

nasalaire II

Once you have the right size, the NasalAire is a DREAM to wear. Correct sizing is the key to bliss with this product. They make a sizing star for the correct size and I've never heard of anyone having to pay for a new cannula if the accidentially purchased the wrong size. Innomed has fantastic customer service. Do you have the NasalAire one or the II ? The NasalAire II is softer than the NasalAire One and better for my constant 24 hour wear. Also, don't try to shove it way up your nose. It only has to go in about an eight of a inch. I looked at their sight online for ideas on how to wear the headstraps. they have pop up with about 10 ways to wear the thing. I wear it "Florida Style" down the side of my face. see the page : http://www.innomedinc.com/content/nasal-aire2 and click on the wearing options pop up.

I almost bought one, too, but decided that the noise from the tubes running over the ears would be too much. How noisy is it? For future reference.

Thanks
Josie

Thanks, IGB, for the reply. I did not purchase it through a dealer but, as I said, an auction on Yahoo. I doubt customer service will do anything for me then, unfortunately.

I am going to go now to the page you supplied the link for. Thank you for your help.
