I bumped my thread approx. 12 days after I last posted it. I did not join just to sell. I am an nurse that works as a RT and like to read peoples real reviews of masks and machines. I have offered some help in threads and tons of help in PMs that had nothing to do with sells.

Thank you,
Jamie

You are not the only seller I was referring to. And with only 21 posts, 15 are in this topic. Another post is in response to a wanted post. So, 5 posts are not about selling. In 9 months.

Sorry, but if you want to be considered a regular member, actively participating, then you need to actually participate in posts that don't benefit your sales. Otherwise, you just come across as a seller. And like I said, there are others too that I was referring to. It has simply gotten worse lately, and I am tired of seeing our forum overrun with a bunch of people just looking to sell us stuff.

I reply to many people in PM's because personal questions sometimes have to be asked like weight, dentures, medications etc... As a medical professional I will not ask these questions on a open forum and I am sure many would not want me to ask in public. In all honestly its IMPOSSIBLE to properly fit a mask without these answers. One size does not fit all.

A poster after my own heart! I did the exact same exercise, but decided not to post my conclusions.

Your issue with the volume of sellers using this site for their competitive sales is bothersome and those who do it, for the most part, know that cpap.com has asked them not to do so.

I have not been asked to stop selling. It's not in the guidelines. If I am asked I will happily stop.

I assume both of you have some type of insurance that covers the cost of your supplies and machines. I am trying to reach the people who are not lucky enough to have insurance but are in serious need of these machines and masks. Don't forget I work in this field everyday and run onto people that have had the same mask for 2 years because they don't have insurance and cant pay full price. I have ran into pt's that machine broke and they could not afford one at full price that ended up in the hospital.

I have a full time job and a family to care for. I don't have time to post constantly in every thread. I read the threads that I think I can help (none of the sales threads) in and either post or send a PM. In most cases it's a PM because personal medical questions needed to be asked. I offered a member here a free machine because she wanted to buy one but did not have the money at the time and I didn't think she had a back up machine. Common sense tells me if you don't like looking at threads that have stuff for sell then don't open them, that's what I do.

Well, if you must know, I buy my masks and filters from cpap.com, out of pocket.

I am glad that you can afford your own equipment. Then why do you post in threads about equipment sales when you do not buy from anyone on the forum? If I have no interest in a thread I don't clink on it. Seems like a waste of time to me.

Sorry, you've made a couple of incorrect assumptions. First, that I've not bought any equipment from this forum, and secondly, that I have no interest in this thread topic. I am interested in the topic, and that is why I opened it, and have posted on it.

You might want to read my post again. I stated that I am glad you can afford your own equipment and was wondering why you look in sales threads when YOU DONT buy from them. Have you lost your insurance since October 14th 2012? You posted that insurance paid 100% of your sleep study. Usually if they do that they will pay 80 to 100% of your CPAP equipment. But you state that you pay out of pocket to CPAP.com
I was told that the study was $3,900 and that I would pay 20%, or about $800. This was confirmed by both the insurance company and the sleep center. Funny thing was, the insurance picked up 100% instead. I suspect it may be because I was diagnosed with severe apnea, but not sure. Got the Explanation of Benefits, and said they were paying 100%. Already then, no argument from me.

Because I am tired of seeing posts from people who are here to make a buck. Most are people who either failed at using their machine and want to make some money, or they got it from a relative who didn't use their machine. They have no history with the forum. We have no idea if they are honest, or if they are the new type of scammer who just lists an item, takes the money, and disappears.

Then there are the other people who are regular sellers. Many have good reputations. Some post rarely. Some post frequently. I wouldn't mind them at all if they didn't post often. But I have seen a few of them post more frequently lately, and bump their own posts.

The more people post sales ads here, the more it looks like they are welcome, so more people looking to sell a machine see the other posts and then post their sale ad too. It just makes the problem worse.

I have no problem with a forum specifically for sales posts, and a link here once a week telling people how to find it. I do object to THIS forum turning into the classified ads section.

Just because you are tired of seeing posts about selling equipment does not mean that everyone else is. I don't post everyday about what I have. I don't PM people with the equipment I have. I have sold to several people on here and have had NO complaints. If you have such an issue with it post your own thread, or contact cpaptalk.com. The disclaimer on cpaptalk.com makes it look like its seller friendly because nothing is listed as prohibited as selling.

Says the poster who only comes here to sell new equipment on a message board provided to us by a seller of equipment. I'm 472 posts strong and no selling from me. I choose to purchase from cpap.com because I get so much out of this board, which is provided by them.
