Comfort Lite 2
Comfort Lite 2
Hi, I have been a lurker for a while. Just have a few questions as I had some recent changes. A little history,I have been on CPAP Therapy for about 7 years. My first machine was a Respironics I believe a M. After a few years it got real noisy but my provider checked it out and the pressure was still good so the insurance company would not spring for a new machine. The RT at my provider was pretty cool and loaned me a Auto CPAP and I fell in love, I slept so much better. When I had to return it after a few weeks she read the card and said the pressure on my old machine was too high and adjusted it. I could tell a difference but, the noise was still there. So I got my Dr. to fax a Rx to CPAP.com and bought my own machine a ResMed S8 Autoset all was well with the world again . I retired about a 1 1/2 years ago and went on The Wife's insurance I had been stockpiling supplies so I was good until recently. I called the Doctor to get a Rx and referral she said I would need a new Sleep Study because I changed insurance companies. So I go through the whole procedure again (good thing was it was a one nighter).
Bored yet?
Because I had bought and been using my OWN Auto CPAP they were able to convince the insurance company to give me a auto machine. So I go pick up the new machine a PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex and all is well. I had told the RT when I first talked with her that I really liked the Comfort Lite 2 with the #4 cushion. She said I am sure we can get one from our warehouse. Well she says it is not being made anymore. Does anyone know if that is true? She steers me to a RespCare Aloha which felt fine at store. I get home hook up the new machine and lay down to see how the mask would feel lying down. No joy I sleep mostly on my sides and the little chin arms press the pillow/cushion one way or the other depending on which side I lay on creating pressure on my nostril . That was the thing I liked about the Comfort Lite 2 the sides of my face were clear. So my last question if I haven't bored you to sleep yet. If the Comfort Lite 2 is no longer available has anyone that has used one before found something similar?
Thanks,
Rick

Looks to me like your RT didn't know what she was talking about. Just use google and there's all kinds of places that carry it. Like Stormynights link shows our host for this forum carries it.

Yeah, I can find em all over but.... is it just inventory? I am sure they buy in large quantities where as my provider is just a small regional company. I don't have a copay for supplies and if I can find out and show her that they are still being made maybe I can force them to order them for me. My old provider didn't carry them either but, they ordered them for me. I sent a question directly to Philips Respronics ask them after posting here.

If it is just inventory and it's the mask you love, then if you can afford it buy up as many as you can afford. There's people on the forum that have done that, stock up before the supply runs dry.

The Comfort Lite does not appear on the Respironics mask page:

I love the CL2. And yes, it IS still being made. I got one just a couple months ago -- I use the #4 direct seal, also! And yes, the sides of the face are clear.Rickv wrote: I had told the RT when I first talked with her that I really liked the Comfort Lite 2 with the #4 cushion. Only thing as good as the CL2 was the Aeiomed Headrest, which is NOT being made any more because the factory burned down. (I stockpiled some!)
Now, I can tell you that I got a Tap-Pap (there are reviews on here) and it's quite nice). Took a little getting used to with the piece in my mouth, but I do like it, and there are no straps, period.
The thing with the CL2 and the direct seals, if your DME is Apria, they don't carry in stock, and they'll do their d@mndest not to have to order ANYTHING, so they'll lie and tell you it isn't being made.
I went round the mulberry bush over mine in January. I clearly gave them the item I wanted, and specified the #4 direct seal. Mask arrived -- they'd sent me medium nasal pillows with it. I called them, and explained the problem. THey told me I would have to bring the wrong mask to them to exchange it.
I said, "Let me get this straight. Because YOU made a mistake on my order, you want ME to drive 60 miles round trip, pay a bridge toll, and take 2-3 hours out of my day."
"Well, you have to return it to get the right mask."
"Fine, someone can come pick it up, or you can issue me a return authorization and have UPS pick up."
"Oh, we can't so that. You have to return it to get the right mask."
"So what you're saying is that because YOU made a mistake on my order, you want ME to drive 60 miles round trip, pay a bridge toll, and take 2-3 hours out of my day."
(Repeat several more times)
Upshot was that they sent the correct mask out. Finally.
You're not the only one the DME has told that a mask was no longer being made when it was, in fact. Check with Respironics. I bet they'll tell you they're still making it.
Then you can go back to your DME and tell them the truth.

Re: Comfort Lite 2
I actually had Apria for about the first 4 or 5 years I was on CPAP and they got me what I wanted. Then my insurance company changed to a company called All-Med they got me what I wanted but screwed up my order every time. They would always send me the pillows instead of the #4 cushions and I would have to call them and get it straightened out, this after the person taking the order over the phone would note the #4's (I would see it on the invoice). As I stated above (not that I don't trust your word ) I sent a info request to Respironics to verify if they still make the CL2 so I can avoid stirring up crap with the DME only to be proven wrong.Kiralynx wrote: The thing with the CL2 and the direct seals, if your DME is Apria, they don't carry in stock, and they'll do their d@mndest not to have to order ANYTHING, so they'll lie and tell you it isn't being made.
I slept last night with the ALOHA mask. I slept OK but my nostrils are sore and I have Mutton Chops marks on both sides of my face from the little brackets. Hopefully I can say "Aloha" to the Aloha and get the CL2.

I just got off the phone with Respironics and they confirmed that The CL2 is no longer being made. Does anyone have experience with the Puritan Bennett Breeze? It looks like it will do the job.

Re: Comfort Lite 2
Well, that's JUST peachy. Because every other mask they've introduced is one of those miserable things with straps all over the face.Rickv wrote:I just got off the phone with Respironics and they confirmed that The CL2 is no longer being made. Guess I'll be looking at the Breeze, too.

Re: Comfort Lite 2
I have one. I gave away all of the pillows but the head part is in good condition. It is not from a pet or smoke free home. PM if anyone needs it.

Re: Comfort Lite 2
Bit of a update, I used the Aloha for about two weeks. I was sleeping good but my nostrils were sore from the side pressure and I didn't like the marks on the side of my face in the morning. I called the RT 3 times she returned my second call and left voice mail never returned my 3rd call. I called the main number and talked to the young lady who had scheduled everything and she talked to the RT and they sent me a Breeze. I had asked about pillow sizes and she said that it would come with all of them. "NOT" it came with small ones and the large ones I wanted to try the medium and large elongated ones. My ins. allows me to get new pillows once a month so I will just have to wait until then to get the right ones. BTW this was dropped shipped and did not come from the DMEs store. As for the Breeze is seems to be working quite will even with the wrong pillows. Only drawback is that if you try to sleep on your back the back plate presses against your head. This isn't a real issue for me as I rarely sleep on my back.
