Julie wrote:Hi - a couple of things... first, if you're still on Sudafed, you might want to switch it to another similar thing like Actifed, because Sudafed has been known to cause some strange side effects (http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-6573-su ... genumber=6 and they could possibly be causing yours. Secondly, the humidifier on any Cpap is there for comfort, to help smooth your treatment, but in itself is not 'therapy' and you should feel free to turn it up, down or off at any time all by yourself . It's very subjective, but if I had possible sinus issues, I'd be turning it down if not off altogether because the 'lump' may be built up congestion which too much humidity (if the ambient air is already damp enough) may be too much.

Thank you Julie. I try to stay away from Sudafed and actually any kind of pill decongestant. I use a prescribed nasal spray that usually keeps things pretty well. I am not on Sudafed. When the ENT suggested I use it for a few days and see if it helped, it did, but only took it for about 4 days as I don't do well on any kind of pill decongestant. Too many side-effects for me. Raises BP and makes me really jittery.

That whole thing with humidity on the cpap is very confusing to me. I started out in March (I think) with my machine set at 1 and my heated hose at 2. That is when I started feeling that funky dry thing I felt the need to try and swallow. My RT as well as people in this group advised me to turn it up. I did. That really helped. With the input from a few people in this group, I tried turning it down again when all of this started for a few nights but that 'lump' was drier and much more uncomfortable. My sleep specialist wants me to have the new GP run a test for Sjogren's syndrome. I had dry mouth before I ever started cpap and I have extreme dry eye.
One would think that too much humidity could be a real problem, I agree. I want to turn the humidity down more or off.....but admit to being a bit afraid at this point. ... but then I may be adding to the problem and too dumb to know it.
Thank you for the input.

I believe I read that you check it yourself, so you should be able to tell if that's happening to you.

Best of luck!
Thanks Khauser.
The sleep specialist made me buy a new cuff as mine was over 2 years old. I do try to take my BP 2 or 3XD since he told me to keep a record. It's staying in good range.
I'm glad that he picked up on it and insisted I keep tabs on it tho. It hasn't spiked since I knew I wasn't going back to that doctor and haven't been all stressed over the attitude there.

I was having sinus type headache, and ear ringing and pain. Turned humidity to 1 and heated hose temp to 2 and feel totally normal. Was thinking pressure to high but it is fine. Use dream station and airfit p10. For 3 weeks now. Going good!
