Resmed S9 Adapt ASV question

Post by JeffH » Thu Jun 20, 2013 7:48 am

It seems my about two year old Resmed Adapt ASV has quit recording AHI readings. I have had a zero AHI for the last 2.5 weeks. Only a .2 increase in minimum pressure. Last nite I woke up with the pressure feeling like it was on straight cpap and the mask (Quattro FX FFM) flexing in a strange way. When I put the mask on and laid back down a held my breath a couple of times to force it to treat a central apnea and it did, but the AHI on the machine screen showed zero AHI this morning.

Anyone know if this is a pattern of typical of these machines?

Thanks

JeffH

I'm glad I read your post about the zero AHI readings. In looking back for the last two weeks, my readings have been mostly 0.0 sprinkled in with a several 0.1 and 0.2.

Seems like sometimes the S9 machines have been known to get stuck reporting the same thing. Often 0.0 stuff.
Unplug the machine from the electric source for a couple of minutes and then plug back in. This forces the machine's firmware to reboot similar to when we reboot a computer to help clear out the cobwebs...then see what tonight's data brings tomorrow.
Of course it is possible to have 0.0 numbers but it hurts nothing to do the reboot to see if that clears things up.

I believe the machine is working perfectly fine. I believe this pap is superior to others!
Adapts to you and treats you apnea! I too have a very low AHI with this pap. Rebooting doesn't change the readings.
Your just doing that good with your apnea.

It can and does change the readings. Won't change any past data but can change future data.
There have been multiple cases where rebooting the machine did indeed fix the S9 stuck on number thing.
It's been discussed on this forum for at least 2 years many, many times.
Since this is a well known problem and the fix is so simple....it's kind of important to make sure that the 0.0 is real and not an error that might be masking a problem.

It would be highly unusual for anyone to have the exact same readings night after night for 2 weeks.

And yes....rebooting the machine does indeed fix the issues and people come back and say things are back to normal.

It hurts nothing at all to try it though. Yes, some people do manage AHI 0.0 occasionally and a few people might see it often but most people will have something show up even if it is a little hyponea.

You were right, Pugsy. Rebooting the machine did the trick. AHI 0.9 last nite, which is more typical for me. A zero AHI is just not possible with treatment in today's world. Maybe sometime in the future, but not right now.

Thanks for the help
