My eardrum perforated on Sunday (yesterday) and last night it felt like the air from CPAP was going out thru that ear. Just felt like it from the inside, no actual air coming out from the outside. Changed masks several times, nothing stopped the weird feeling. I'm also having trouble hearing & balancing (obviously) but wondered if anyone here had any experience with this.
Called my sleep Dr today & he said if no actual air exiting the ear, to try to wear until I could see my ENT. Will see ENT Thursday, but very uncomfortable until then, just wondered if anyone has been thru this & has any suggestions.
Jen
Oh, & sleeping without CPAP not an option, I cannot fall asleep without it. Under other circumstances that would be a good thing but now...
Anyone with perforated ear drum with cpap?

Yes, yes and yes!
My left ear has perforated from the cpap. Unfortunately I don't have any good suggestions, as my ear drum usually heals up by the next night.
Ear plugs are the only thing I can think that might stop the feeling of the air rushing through.. It sounds to me like you have an ear infection, if your balance is off. You have my sympathies.

An Oracle oral mask will not blow air out your ears if you can learn to sleep without the nose plugs. You can learn to close off your nose with the soft palate and there will be no pressure in your nose or your ears. It's just like what happens when you blow up a balloon. You don't get pressure in your nose or ears.
Unfortunately, I found the Oracle hard to live with. Even with humidification, the air in my throat was just too dry and the feeling of not breathing through my nose bothered me too much. I did learn to sleep without letting the air out of my nose.

Hi Jencat,
sorry you going throu this, hope you get some treatment (and pain control) unless it has to heal on its own. The only thing I can think of is to cap the pressures for comfort if you have pain.
Or to sleep more elevated in order to use lower pressures (again for comfort). Hope you heal soon!
