goggles with WISP?

Post by jaybeem » Thu Jun 06, 2013 5:09 pm

Has anyone used a mask or goggles with the WISP? Which one? I am back to having trouble with bloodshot eyes and need to find something to protect my eyes from moving air.

I have the http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZJ ... UTF8&psc=1 Macks Dreamgirl Contoured Sleep Mask, but it is way too large to fit wearing the WISP.

I don't have a wisp yet but I keep a little cheap simple sleep mask in the drawer of my night stand to pop on anytime I have any leaks near my eyes. I haven't had to use it lately but it is still handy.

teen size swim goggles, but I use a hole punch in an upper outside corner for pressure relief.

I use makeup remover pads taped with 'MICROPORE' surgical tape. I put the tape in a 'V' shape under my eyes which stops leaks entering my eyes. I use these every night and it works extremely well. My eyes used to run all day as a result of the air blowing into them all night and they were itchy and red. Leaks don't even reach my eyes at all now, so it so much more comfortable. Make sure when removing the tape you are very careful not to tear your skin. Support the skin and remove the tape very slowly. Don't just use any tape. 'MICROPORE' is especially designed for delicate skin. I can usually reapply the same pad with the same tape for two nights. Good Luck!

Yes. I have started to use an eye mask because I was waking up with dry, irritated eyes ... partly from 'dry eye' symptoms after Lyme Disease and then cataract surgeries. I don't like the hose of my WISP attached to the top of my head so I just let it rest on the mattress; but if the hose gets twisted during the night, then air seems to be directed towards my eyes. My only complaint about the WISP.

I had an eye mask that I wore when traveling but it was too large, especially around the bridge of my nose where the WISP fits. So ... I made one! Used the same fleece that I used to make a hose cover ... cut it so it would fit perfectly around the Wisp mask and then attached an elastic to fit around my head under the WISP headgear. (I tried cutting down the original eye mask but it just didn't work.)
My 'new' mask works fine.

Good Luck!

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. I used makeup remover pads when I first started CPAP. I will try that first. And I have a cheap airline mask that I could cut/tape down if that doesn't work. Last in line will be to make a mask.

My dry eyes are also from cataract surgery, exacerbated by CPAP leaks and the exhaust vent.

I nearly forgot those cheap little fabric stretchy headbands from the Dollar Store work good too. They come 3 to a pack.

I don't have a WISP mask, but here's what I do with my nasal mask and it works great for me so it may work on the WISP.

I was always having trouble with my nasal mask (Fisher Paykel Flexifit) leaking around my eyes, so I bought some cheap stretchy hair headbands at the drug store. I put one of these across the mask near my eyes (and it goes around to the back of my head to get an idea of the direction it goes - opposite of how they are intended of course). I then fold under a small section to keep the fabric off my eyes. The headband creates a very gentle pressure on the upper portion of my mask and virtually eliminates air leaks there.

Good luck - and I am looking forward to trying the WISP when it is time for a new one.
