Resmed vpap auto vs PR bilevel auto

Post by danielqk » Mon May 20, 2013 1:59 pm

My Dr asked me to choose between Resmed vpap auto or PR bilevel auto.
Do you have any comment ?
I am looking for a machine with features such as
Fast repond to apnea event (Resmed if faster than PR)
Can be switched to different mode: cpap/straight bilevel/auto bilevel/ bilevel S
Below is PR bipap auto can clear airway apnea, don't know it is true or not ?
Advanced Event Detection and Response

Digital Auto-Trak Sensitivity is the brains behind Respironics' Flex Technology. A patented algorithm monitors breathing patterns and responds to abnormal pressure changes. The Auto-Trak system measures variable triggers and cycle thresholds, adjusted pressure automatically to provide effective sleep therapy.

The PR BiPAP Auto is designed to identify and respond to symptoms beyond classic OSA parameters such as AHI and flow limitations. With the PR system, detection is expanded to include data on Snoring, Periodic Breathing and Respiratory Effort-Related Arousals (RERAs). Along with digital Auto-Trak Sensitivity and Flex Technology, the PR BiPAP Auto can detect the breathing cycle and deliver comfortable pressures proactively.

Advanced event detection and response includes:

•Periodic Breathing
•Clear airway apnea
•Obstructed airway apnea
•Hypopnea
•RERA
•Flow limitation
•Vibratory snore
•Large leak

Here is a good illustration on how the pressure support works in the two machines. This is something you'll have to set and there is a difference between the two machines on how pressure support works. viewtopic.php?p=376749#p376749
