slimline tube

What's the difference between slimline tube and regular tubes. Does the thinner tube change the pressure of your cpap?

Doesn't change the pressure. It's a comfort thing. The slimmer hose has a lot less drag and weight.

With a slimline tube, it does change the pressure. You need to change the setting on our cpap machine to 15 - instead of 22 (this is tube diameter setting not the machine's pressure settings) . I don't know what machine you have, so I can't tell you what to do for this - but the setting does need to change if you want to have effective treatment.

If you are talking about the ResMed SlimLine tubing, My research (no personal experience here with anything BUT the Slimline tubing) tells me it works reliably only with the ResMed S9 machines and, as quietmorning said, there is a setting on the S9s for the different sized tubing to make sure you get accurate pressures. They provide a warning that if you use the SlimLine tubing with any other machine, overall pressures will be reduced and you may get erratic pressures.

The SlimLine is thinner, lighter, and much more flexible than standard tubing. Lighter means that it should be more comfortable and less likely to pull on your mask and break the seal creating a leak. It also takes up less storage space.

I think it is very good quality and I've had no issues at all with it with my S9 Elite in my loooong 1 week on CPAP

Blessings,

Kate

I use the slimline tube with my PR system 1 560 - and I love it. It's light weight and flexible. Some people when they use it feel like they are sucking through a straw to breathe - others, like me, don't notice any difference. I wonder if they thought to change their setting on their machine? Hm. Any way - just like everything else, it's a personal choice for what you like and what you don't. It can't hurt to try it, but make sure you change your setting. If you can tell us what machine you use, we can tell you how to change the setting so that you get correct pressure.

Respironics also makes an optional 15mm slim tubing for the System One machines, and you have to select the tubing size through the Setup menu to ensure correct pressure delivery.

With the S9 you do not need to change the pressure. There is a setting on the machine to indicate whether you are using slimline or regular.
The machine makes some adjustment internally.
