For those users that have used both machines:
Has anyone had the experience of having good results (low AHI) with one machine but terrible results (high AHI) with the other?
My ASV titration was last August using the ResMed machine. On that one night my AHI was 0.0, I didn't have any impossible task night terrors and I felt well rested the next day.
I've been using a Respironics ASV machine since early October and my average AHI is 12.9. I don't think I've had a single night with an AHI less than 5 during this entire time and I have my 'bad' dreams EVERY night.
95 percent of my apneas are expiratory in nature which are recorded half obstructive/half central by the machine (which I believe is vocal chord disfunction due to hypocapnia) and I was wondering if the algorithm in the Respironics machine could possibly be the cause of this phenomenon.
I realize that my ResMed experience was only one night but the odds of having 'the best night sleep ever' occurring during a sleep study is miniscule at best but the only other difference is the machines' algorithms.
ASV: Respironics vs ResMed
Re: ASV: Respironics vs ResMed
I haven't used both machines but what i can say is my AHI is 0.0 with the S9 Vpap Adapt.

Re: ASV: Respironics vs ResMed
Due to the central nature of your central apneas, you might indeed benefit from Resmed ASV technology. It is far more insistent that you breathe in a regular pattern than the Respironics. The Respironics ASV unit allows you more time to "kick in" on your own. As a result, you might actually see a higher AHI with Respironics compared to Resmed. Still, with the central nature of your breathing problems (the vocal chord paralysis) .. you WILL see some nights where your AHI is higher. If you are like me, you will see all your other symptoms more heightened at the same time.

Re: ASV: Respironics vs ResMed
Since my apneas tend to be grouped together I'm thinking if I can somehow eliminate the first one in the group then there will be no subsequent apneas (wishful thinking) thus eliminating the entire group.

Even BFisher will appreciate that ragged line of breathing!
