Hell! Why worry??!! .. I had uncontrolled central sleep apnea for years .. It led to irreversible kidney damage. (The uncontrolled high blood pressure due to the apnea combined with ibuprofen for the resulting headaches kills kidneys).

Yup! You're too young to worry about things that won't cause you problems until 15 years from now .. so, why bother!!

Good luck with the surgery. It works for a few people. But everyone I know who tried it can (a) no longer use xPAP therapy, and (b) it didn't work, and (c) have a tracheostomy as their next surgical step. Dang! ... But Hey! You're too young to worry about things like that ...

"Too young for this" I'm only 20.
Honestly, although I understand that you may be overwhelmed, just be grateful that you do not have narcolepsy. You cannot grasp the understanding of the word tired.

I wish I could have been diagnosed and treated when I was your age.
I was tired for over thirty years. Not worth diarrhea, even.

Just because an individual is recommending something doesn't make it quackery.

There's quite a bit to so-called alternative medicine, especially now that most medical research is done by Big Pharma.

For instance, there's a drug called naltrexone. FDA approved at 50 mg doses for the treatment of drug addiction. A doctor stumbled across the fact that very low doses (4.5 mg once at bedtime) had all kinds of interesting effects. Dr. Jill Smith of Penn State is now in Phase 2 trials, testing that low dose for treatment of Crohn's disease. Stanford has done tests which show that LDN (low dose naltrexone) works for fibromyalgia. And many other things.

I can speak for acupuncture for pain relief -- used it after my cancer surgery.

In fact, most doctors today will tell you that diet has nothing to do with digestive disorders. I'm alive today because a diet which was considered outmoded survived and restored my health.

Remember, it's the PRACTICE of medicine. They haven't got it right yet.

A year old post but some raw emotion was displayed back and forth between the OP and the various replies (Including my snippy little contribution ). Black Shampoo's last post was Dec 15, 2013... wonder whatever happened to him/her??? The last several posts from Black Shampoo asked pretty informed and detailed questions, so it seemed like they were on board with their therapy. That being said, it'd be nice to hear back and find out how things are going.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
