How much sleep do you need?

Post by Grimace » Fri Apr 28, 2006 8:02 pm

A reply I made to another post got me thinking. Before my apnea started getting severe, I probably averaged about 6 hours of sleep each night. That's all I ever seemed to need. My rack time gradually went up as my quality of sleep went down, and I was probably in bed around 9 or 10 hours a night until I started cpap treatment, and then I immediately fell back to around six hours and I feel good all day again. It's actually a little annoying, because I'm almost always awake well before it's time to get up, and I'm not motivated enough to actually get up and try to accomplish something I was just curious how much sleep everyone else needed each night, and whether anyone else had the same experience after starting cpap treatment.

Less Sleep Needed

I also used to sleep like a log for 8 to 10 ten hours at a crack before cpap.
With cpap I now average 7 hours sleep time. The biggest difference for me is upon waking from cpap I feel a certain rush of energy to get up and get going. Before cpap I awoke real slow, sat on the edge of the bed for a while and remember a sort of burning feeling all over, and a whole body sort of tiredness.
Now during the day my mind races with thoughts and my mouth follows suit, my poor wife can attest to that. I need to figure out a different schedule for myself now that I sleep less hours. Could I be more productive in that extra time? Naw, probably just sit in front of the computer more.
